I'm 90% sure I want to do one but the other just shouts out to me at times. Will be weird though going to uni at the same time as my cousin who is 16 now :\
I did a foundation degree and am older than quite a few in my class.
My foundation degree was pretty good, it did start off stupidly easy (1st semester I had an grade of 96%) but soon becomes harder.
In classes I see people easily 30+... around uni I see students in there 50s and 60s (TBH at which point I do think "Whats the point").
What kinda field you looking at going into??
I was nervous before quitting my job to apply, really nervous...but it was hand down the Best decision of my life!

There is no "high school" in the UK. You finish compulsory education at 16, do sixth form until 18 and then university.
No I'm not, because I accounted for gap years in the very post you quoted. I went to uni with many people who'd taken years out, and I'm not passing judgement on anything. It just feels strange to hear people I consider my elders talking about things that are in my past. I've been in education for as long as I can remember, so the realisation I'll never sit another exam, write another essay or start a new term is a weird one.
Don't speak too soon. I thought the same but found myself back at uni last year.

What are your plans for employment?
At the moment, I'm happy to pay the rent. I can't even bring myself to apply for any proper graduate jobs. I looked through a book of graduate positions and felt ill afterwards. I seriously doubt I'll end up back in education, though. I became utterly sick of it, and I'm having much more fun as a graduate than I ever did as a student.

Maybe some people want to be educated for reasons other than making more money?

True...but you have to live a strange lifestyle (be loaded too) to halt the majority if not all of your income at that age to study.
When I see 60 year olds studying, i just think that they won't have much chance to apply what they know.
Also, i'm doing my degree in Marine Biology...sadly its gonna be a long time before I pay off my loan. Most people with Masters in Marine Biology are gonna be on an average of £25K a year.
Gone is the dream of being a millionaire dolphin trainer!

I'm working in the UK (Preston) as a data analyst (financial/commercial analysis), it's not my ideal career, but the money is rather good .
