If you wanna be a pro, just like many others say go for vinyl, that's what dj' is all about, cd's are never gonna be the same, simulation cannot be the same. CD's true, it is easier to have the newest music, but it's not respectfull to the artist like Armin, Tiesto, or PVD. These guys do this for living, if you were producing trying to make some $$$ would you be happy if everyone got your stuff for free, I think the prices are ridiculus, but if everyone paid for their music, we'd be getting it for a lot cheaper.
I use tables, and spin vinyls only, it is expensive I spent each time at a record store minimum of 100+, but it's worth it, but obviously i'm doing it for more then just fun.
Basically, if you love dj' mixin, and wanna dj one day, go for it, don't hold back ! Every decision involves some type of risk, but what the hell it's better then "It could've been ... if ... "
Hope this helps you out in some way
Peace
ESO

cds forever
well for as long as they are aroudn.
im sticking with cds. i have those pioneer 3000mx dual cd players (really expensive and im still paying for it) and im having loads of fun with it.
i like cds much more since i only have cds and they are easier to get plus you get to burn mp3 onto them obviously and your music is so unlimited. i cant' afford to start a vinyl collection this late and its harder to get certain albums and single on vinyl than on cds.

Turntables vs. CD's is a never-ending debate.
I prefer vinyls, because 99% of Trance releases are available on vinyl only, and although you can burn CD's with MP3's, you'll be compromising sound quality if you do so. |
thats completely wrong. ive been colelcting cds (trance /dance only) for just over 2 years and ive got absolutely loads. in fact record companies bung extra tracks on to cd's anyway. I.E. Perpetuous Dreamer - Dust.wav
Vinyl Release € 5,54 (excl. VAT)
1)Dust.wav
2)Dub.wav
CD Release € 5,27 (excl. VAT)
1)Dust.wav (Rising Star Radio Edit)
2)Dust.wav (Rising Star Mix)
3)Dub.wav
4)Dust.wav (F2F Chill Mix)
5)Dust.wav (Video)
thats an example of a new release. older release comparison..
IIO - Rapture (10 Mix CD) £4.50
Riva Stringer (8 Mix CD) £4.50
value is there adn so are the mixes. the only things that you cant get on vinyl are.. things like. insigma - open ur eyes, pulser cloudwalking.
i think you didnt realise the availbilty of cd's. you have to be in to them to know where to get them from etc. you wont find them at htfr.com, but you will at cdzone.co.uk for example. its al abotu waht your into. theres no much new these days, that i cant get on cd, particularly the big tunes.
lots of the jocks are slowly intergrating to cd's now anyway. there easier to use (pioneer 1000;s)
PVD uses cd's for 40% of his sets on average he said in an interview.
