Most DJ's that try to "branch out" will not get asked to play again. You're not comprehending this. There's another moron Bedroom DJ sucking the promoter's cock saying he will play that armin shit that fills clubs right behind the DJ that's playing, lol.

Woscar, I'm gonna give you the benefit of the doubt that you legitimately don't know that you sound like a complete ass with your comments in here. There is no way to sugar coat it. I'm disappointed in myself for dropping down to your level to respond to this but I have to.
Specifically two things: 1. Saying you've listened to music for a longer period so you know what's "better" music is the the most pathetic thing I've ever heard and consistently brings down the forum as a whole. This is also a recurring theme in a lot of your posts. All it does is make you look snobby and adds nothing to the conversation except to rile people up about it and 2. You clearly do not know what it is like to be a non-superstar club DJ. You play what you have to, not necessarily what you want to. And related to that is like what some have said above...most markets will not tolerate a certain type of music. You play it, and it's a one-way ticket to not being asked back. It's as simple as that.


Edit: One more thing...keep this crap out of the DJ Booth. I know I speak for others here when I say it's one of the last refuges left on TA for intelligent, non-flaming conversation.

Confidence bro; try it. You can play whatever you want wherever you want whenever you want. Grow some balls and start something new instead of feeding the trends. Have some balls and tell a promoter you won't play for them if you can't play what you like. Dj'ing is not profitable enough to sell out unless you're at the top. So wtf are you doing? Go work in a warehouse you'll make more money and contain more dignity.

First of all you playing all the shit promoters want you to play is what will keep you in the kiddie pool for life. It makes you disposable. It makes you identical to your competition. You don't/won't stand out at all. Eventually you'll realize the industry is not profitable for your type; that you have no future in the industry because you ate ass for 15 years and then its all over and you're fucked!

Instead of playing bullshit you don't like network yourself and find the clubs that DO want your music and work with them. Tell the others to gtfo. But you're prolly to stuck in your ways to realize how stupid what you're doing really is.

As for the second part I agree. They're excuses for why they sell out are laughable and attributable to a lack of intelligence and business sense. However everyone in this thread knows they won't last long and they've already stunted their growth and market as a dj.

On topic though I can't say I have a particular 'signature tune' as I'll never claim someone elses work as my own. A signature tune for me would have to be my own material and I'm not quite there yet.
