Yeah you would THINK that since they played college, they knew the rules but for some reason, that doesn't happen

In the NBA there is basically no travel violation. Iverson gets away with so much crap it's not even funny. That is the biggest the biggest problem that I have with the NBA. To me, this lack of basic 'travelling' enforcement rules the game. There are a lot of other differences like fouls and such but you get the picture.

The NBA is pure show. I can't believe that people watch it, then when I'm reffing basketball, say to me, "Well Ref, Shaq got to do this...."

University ball is better because it's better coached, the players for the most part play as a team and the goal is the win the championshop. 90% of the players in the NBA play as an individual. They don't play for the championship, they play for endorsments.

Oh yeah, I have played basketball for about 10 years now and reffed for more than 3. Believe me when I say that I have a pretty good understanding of the rules. You should refferee. It's good money(i get 30 bucks a game for high school) and it gives you more appreciation for them game

I guess your right about the college ball thing. Money is the root of all evil :P. However if your watching it just for entertainment than I dont see how an argument can be made that says college ball is more entertaning because in the nba its played at a higher tempo, and flashier, college ball always looks slow as molases or like the players are rushing too much(i.e dribble down the field stop with 25 seconds on the clock and shoot a bad 3 pointer)

Yeah the NBA is entertaining to watch.

Oh well. There are still enough players that I like in the NBA so I will keep watching it.

On Iverson:

Well I think you have to admit that he is one of the NBA's top guards, no question. He is a great player and has already made the finals once and has quite a lot of seasons left to give it another shot at claiming a ring. Even for Jordan, it took him six years to get there. I think he is alot more than a 'decent player'. Some people don't think he will make it to the Hall of Fame is because of his thug image. If you look at the guy as a player and compare his quickness and scoring ability to other shooting guards then Iverson is the man, hands down.
People have to realise that Iverson is mostly the lone scorer out there for his team. The fact that you see Iverson with the ball most of the time is obviously the fact there is no consistent scorer for the sixers to pass the ball to.
As for John Stockton, I don't think he is comparable to Iverson. For starters he is a pure point guard and Iverson is a shooting guard. And also look at who else is on the team to deliver those points, the Mailman ? Forget about Stockton, he is on the verge of retirement, same with Malone.

On the game:

I have to say the rules of the NBA have gone down to the whole for these couple of seasons. I do agree that the NBA is for show and that it does not represent the proper rules of basketball. I think that's one of the reasons why the ratings have gone down for this sport.

I disagree on that, the slower the game gets, the lower the ratings. The leagues trying to make the game faster thats what people want, oh and I made a thread for this lets move it there as this doesnt really pertain to iverson
