It is , like I said flossing is as important as brushing , you don't brush once a day do you ?

Ideally it should be right after you eat , but if you can manage to do that and you have to choose a time during the day then do it at night which it would be critical if you don't .

Oral-B Identifloss with the mint flavoring. I used to use the plain one just because it was all I had at home, but the flavor makes such a big difference.

I also got this new Scope, some kind of "long lasting" formula. It's crazy, even after coffee I can still feel it

One is interproximal caries ... the other one it attacks your gums and bone , many times especially on the 3rd molars ( wisdom tooth ) if they are somehow impacted they create a food trap which can potentially turn into a periodontitis and a nasty ass infection .

This is pretty much what happened to me. One of my wisdom teeth was impacted, I didn't have any issue for years. One day I wake up and it feels like it's trying to bore its way out of my skull, one of the worst pains ever. Had to get an emergency extraction the next day. Started going to a dentist for the first time in years (10 or so) and she basically said, "your gums are fucked lol". Luckily no cavities/tooth problems, but I definitely have/had periodontal disease

Question for Haziel: how can the dentist tell I'm still smoking? Is it the type of plaque that builds up or something? Because last time I went to see him, I actually hadn't had a cig in a few weeks...and I floss and brush almost anally.

Well that's why, that's not how flossing/brushing works dummy! You have to do it orally.

It might be because smoking thins your teeth from the breathing in and out of the smoke and might leave little rough spots on the teeth or as you said the plaque is different, just a guess though.

Well there is a long list of foods and drinks that cause a similar colored stain on teeth ,same as if you were smoking cigarettes , that might be the case.

Also there are some stains that are almost imposible to remove , the only way to remove it is with an ultrasonic scaler or a manual one , in that case maybe some previous staining didnt get removed from your last cleaning , probably why he thinks you still smoke .

btw congrats on not smoking
