Well if it's vinyl I usually order it online. This is because I live in Canada and there is a lack of quality record shops even though I do visit them too. As for anything non-vinyl I will usually download it unless the whole CD is really good and at an affordable price.

I don't mean to sound stupid, but I never realised the extent to which people were downloading off the internet. Personally I find it quite worrying.

I prefer buying my records, theres nothing quite like that feeling when the mailman comes holding several 12" packages. It's far more rewarding than downloading shit quality tunes off the internet, which have half the time been cut from dj sets and you can still hear the crowd shouting in the back ground.

People should learn to get back into the record stores and demanding that they get certain tunes in stock. it's the only way that these stores will improve. Personally I was disgusted to see when I walked into my local HMV that they had cut two rows of the techno section away and given it to house and r and b music.

I had no idea the extent to which people steal music either (especially the percentage of people on this sitee.) until I made a flip comment about how sharing/downloading full rips is lame.

I find it worrying too, especially in light of what's happened with Bonzai recently. Given the state of the world economy, I don't think that Bonzai will be the only major dance music record label to fall this year. We'll see how people's justifications change once there is fewer and fewer new tunes being made available due to record companies dropping like flies...

Good to see others share my opinion about downloading and buying music. I was beginning to think I was the only one...

I buy most my tunes from a local record store, which is luckily run by a good friend of mine. I wanna support the artists and the feeling of having the real record instead of some crappy mp3 is just so "out-of-this-world", makes me so happy. I understand and know everyone can't buy records from the stores because there aren't any good stores around or maybe the budget isn't friendly for the prices. When i go to the store, i listen to some cds and/or vinyls and buy them if they are good, couldn't care less if are they new or old. Quality matters me more than age. SO i don't need to stay up-to-date either with the latest releases, i can leave that to others who want to be on the edge. I can review the new tunes in the store as well. I buy cds/vinyls at about 60/40 ratio so bit more cds.. Nowadays i hardly ever dl anything off the net, except some tunes i know i can't buy anywhere. I don't collect livesets or dj mixes either, i enjoy them more live in a club or at some event, not at home. When i'm at home, i like to listen how tunes build up from the beginning and how they end.
