Tunisia is in political turmoil. Why risk it? |
Exactly.
| quote: | TUNIS, Tunisia (AP) - The Tunisian army fired warning shots in the capital Thursday as demonstrators marched toward the headquarters of the longtime ruling party, and government ministers quit the party in a desperate attempt to keep their jobs.
Demonstrators have criticized the country's new unity government announced Monday for being mostly made up of old guard politicians from the ruling party. They are seeking the disbanding of the RCD party, founded by ousted President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali, who fled to Saudi Arabia on Friday after 23 years in power.
Outside the gates of the party headquarters in Tunis, the army fired about 10 rounds into the air, scattering some protesters in the noisy but peaceful crowd. Others remained, chanting, "Down with the RCD!"
The warning shots came after a period of relative calm in Tunisia, which has been rattled by more than a month of unrest over the lack of jobs and corruption in Ben Ali's regime. Police even let protesters break a curfew Thursday night to hold a sit-in near the Interior Ministry. |
lol are people living in a hole to suggest a Tunisian vacation right now??

What he said. Also, don't let your woman walk alone there, son. For local young ppl it's an honor to be with a white girl. Get mah point? It is kinda dangerous, but nothing dramatic, just stick to the touristic parts. Don't buy street food, their hygienic conditions are not the greatest. Trust me, did my time.. You will see that their booze isn't the greatest, but they usually haver normal stuff in hotels. |
I don't get it- is this the kind of advice one should be taking before going on a "vacation"? My idea of vacation entails either:
A) Places that are safe to walk around with your lady, awesome food, quality accommodations, preferably crystal clear ocean water, palm trees, and relaxation.
B) Spending time in a location that has incredible historical significance (not including areas where women and gays are stoned to death, or you might be kidnapped because you don't worship the same fake deity as the locals).

That is general advice for any 3rd world-ish country... Not everyone goes to hawaii/bahamas you know
I said it is not really dramatic. What I wrote was advice, not warning. You can get robbed in the middle of Manhattan and Charlotte, too.
Tunisia is beautiful, and has incredible historical significance (not including areas where women and gays are stoned to death, or you might be kidnapped because you don't worship the same fake deity as the locals).
