Lolo, thanks for the insider view.

I don't know your'e label really but my imprssion is of a label that signs rolling bass classic trance that to my ears mainly sound all the same - why pay for something when it's as common as grass? My brother who is a hardened clubber say most trance sounds like classical music with a beat - in his eyes uncool.

As I say I don't know much if anything about Bonzai so forgive my idiotic lack of knowledge here.

Selling mashups is beyond illegal, maybe the 4$ price it's because you are like buying 2 tracks (which is not true) and the 2 labels + the store gets money, in that case he is not receiving 4$ on each sale and therefore not 4000$ on a basis.

If he is getting all the 4$ then i bet someone here is about to sue him because he is selling illegaly other people work (it's like i pick the top 1 of beatport charts, add some vocals and 2 FX and start selling in my own).

And if this works then i am going to start doing this too lol. With 100$ month i'm fine, just some alcohol to improve my mashup creativity (this is a work tool, i hope no taxes here).

And my last thought.... how someone can pay 4$ for a mashup? You can buy a whole album on amazon for that price... pick ableton live and do the mashup yourself

His name got out there and he's now getting bookings all over. He doesn't make his own tracks, he simply makes mashups.

After my sampling thread i think that its much easier (and even more legal) to just download songs off the web and sell them in your website (**cough**Russian sites*).

BTW: look at Ronald Jenkees, he's got millions of viewers on YouTube, he opened a site with an mp3 store (which you can open for free nowadays).
If only 0.1% of these views are heading on to his site and buy his tunes then he is already making some nice $$$, and if youtube is paying him for every view (which they started doing with some artists) then you're looking at a nice income for an independent artist.

Ellaskins is getting loads of dj equipment because of his dj tutor channel, if you are the first doing that you can have a lot of success with little effort.

just a thought, if theres no money in it then fair enough, my goal is to just have my tunes played in clubs and when me and my friends go clubbing to an event my tune could come on!! so do you think if i specifically say to the label they dont have to pay me just release it and promote and they can keep the redies if it becomes succesfull they might do that ?

actually to be honest i havent sent hardly anything off to any labels or djs, its only my last 2 tracks that ive had confidence in to be good enough for a club play, a few labels did get back to me on the first track, and the second i only sent out this week so im keeping my fingers crossed, already had 2 positive emails back regarding that one, i think my point is i honestly believe that if my tunes where played in a club specifically the last 2 the audience would get them and dig them, i just dont know the best way i can get the djs to actually listen to them! im shit at syuff like myspace and all that too
