Interesting analogy above.
100% Agree with both of you.
Sometimes i'm nearly happy the units cost as much as they do so that people like us tell them to get fucked. Imagine the damage they could do if they dropped their prices even a little.
The main problem with their units is that they rarely decrease in price.
Where as the weak dollar-Yen was at fault for an initial price hike I very much doubt the prices will be reduced if trading starts to favour Pioneer again. |
That is exactly right, and it really pisses me off. As mentioned, when I got my cdj800 mk2 I paid $500 for it (rrp $599), then the currency exchange went south so they jack up the prices by $200.
Now the exchange rate has got better, in comparable levels to what it was before the hike, there's no sight of price reductions from pioneer.
So instead they bring out a new model which obfuscates the fact the old model should again be cheaper. The new model hides the extra cost in new features.
But my brain goes, hang on, according to moores law, technology gets better over time and cheaper, so even if it is a new model with more features, it should not cost more or at least only increase relative to inflation, which in this climate should actually be a decrease in prices.
but you're right, imagine if they cut costs on the CDJ 850 so it's rrp was around $600.
It would absolutely destroy all the other brands on the market in terms of market share.
But no, pioneer would prefer to flood the market with new models that probably end up costing them a lot of money (r&d, marketing, production, supply, shipping, etc.) and that's why the newer models cost more, as they have to cover these costs.

100% Right, Pionner want's more money form existing customers
technology is the secound priority here ...
I think that it was mach more easy for people to decide:
or the cdj 400 (for exemple) or the 2000.
i belive that those who boguht the 900 really want's the 2000...
