ah, well yeah i can see it if they had to send it to the manufacturer because they weren't sure what the problem was but they should be able to tell relatively quickly if it's the mobo or not without having to send it in, imo.
but like the other guy said, if it costs ANY amount of money to get it repaired (and it will cost an arm and a leg to get a replacement board), then i would just rip out the HDD (for data retrieval) and buy a new one.
