Oh, ok. In that case, I'm going to call you out on some things since I have 'misrespresented' facts. |
haha ok go for it
| quote: | | 1) Where do you get this 'dull atmosphere from? I called mark oliver's music dull and I stick by it. Stop putting words in my mouth saying I called the crowd dull or lifeless. |
if the music was dull dont you think youd tend to get that reaction from a crowd? A good dj knows how to entertain the majority and thats what counts. Nice backpeddle though.
| quote: | | 2) I'm not going to go over the whole clean up thing again. | you say as you go over the clean up thing again... LOL
| quote: | | I gave my kudo's to the staff (which include people like you, I was being respectful but it was nice of you to leave that out of your speech) and I guess if it's worth anything, having a floor with people yelling at one another and half of them having Security written on the back of their t-shirts doesn't consistute anything unormal by your standards, nor does it give me any sort of reason to argue about disorganization. I never said that it wasn't on time nor were there any noticable defaults when Mark Oliver went on, it was fine. My observation was strictly on how the clean up occured and I stick by it (nice shot at me on cleaning up, you must feel proud of yourself). |
i am proud of myself. It was VERY organized and i stick to that. HAve you EVER done a load out? its always about speed, shouting and running around like madmen. Again, Security offered to help move the speaker stacks so that we could open faster. Otherwise the groan from you would have been "it took them forver to open the main room"
I think we should rename deluxe "the peanut gallery?"
| quote: | | 3) What do you care about what sort of people I like or don't? |
i dont really.
| quote: | | Yet you still attempt to give me an option between 2 groups of people that have historically made that room a reason for many clubbers never to go back AND if I don't like either than I really have no reason to complain. I've always understood why DJ's love the guvernment so much because from the DJ booth it has to be one of the best views in the world. The views are spectacular and I'm sure it is a North American highlight for any DJ who is playing this side of the pond, no arguments on that. However, this has never been the case with the clubber; in fact I've always found guv to be one of the worst atmosphere's you can find because you spend more time looking for a good place to hear, a good place to dance and a place where you won't have shoulder bruises rather than enjoying the 'journey'. | Well there is quite a simple solution to that isnt there? Because from where i was, i wouldnt have been able to see you standing there due to the fact that there would have been people jumping and screaming all around you due to the fun they were having.
| quote: | | You really have no right to talk about the atmosphere being in the lighting booth as you are in a similar position to the DJ in that you are isolated from the dancefloor. | yup, and doctors have no right to speak about surgery on account that they are the surgeon. Its actually the dj's job and the light ops job to see crowd response/vibe and respond accordingly!!! Do you even think about what you are posting? FYI i party on my offtime a lot on the main room floor. I know exactly how it is down there. I find it hilarious when people go to a mega club and then complain about big crowds. Like what did u expect?
| quote: | | Infact, I can't even remember the last time you ever posted in a review thread without having been an employee for the club of that event. You ever tried to find a decent spot on the guv dancefloor at 2am to try and dance? | Many times yes!
| quote: | | The fact that you, the guvernment employee, is talking about how great the vibe was when NO ONE ELSE in the thread has said anything good speaks for itself. | right because from where i am i cant see anything and the people smiling and jumping around are all in my imagination. Honestly, quit while you are ahead.
| quote: | And btw, I just went to a festival 3 weeks ago that had an atmosphere that guv will never be lucky enough to experience (and with a guv promoter who claimed he never wanted to go back to a Toronto party ever again ). |
awesome! glad you had fun there!

Got there at 11:30ish and was watching the take down of the stage and I was surprised it was pretty fast considering that there wasn't that many stage hands around. Guvernment probably lost a lot of alcohol sales with the take down and everyone being fenced off at the Drink and Deluxe.
Sean Tyas came on a bit after 1 and played a decent set, he played his more mainstream stuff like Lift (I went nuts when I heard this) and Melbourne. I still think it's better than his set in Buffalo in Dec last year.
7/10
Simon Patterson came at 3 and I was really looking forward to seeing him since I've never seen him before and I really love his productions. I thought his set was awesome, non-stop energy and slamming trance/psy-trance. Yeah there was a few long breakdowns but it was a good rest for all the stuff he was playing. My fav production by him is Smack and he dropped it on Saturday and it was pure bliss.
7.5/10
The treat of the night was when Simon Patterson finished and went Back to Back with Sean Tyas. They played a relentless hard slamming 140+ bpm trance set and had tons of people on stage and the whole dance floor going nuts. They went on till about 5:30 and by that time I was dead tired and they finished off with Vincent De Moor - Fly Away (Sean Tyas Remix) Oh mannn I was loving life at that point.
8/10
After the Back to Back, Sean Tyas did a second set which was A LOT better than his first, it was a lot more slamming, driving, and darker feeling. I didn't want to leave at all, but TRANCEEEE was forcing and me and at time Tyas dropped Rank 1 - Airwave (Sean Tyas Remix) and it was just epic and euphoric! The next few tracks right after were amazing especially the one with a tone and a bit of a break beat in the middle. I didn't know he had that in him to play like that, it was pleasure to be there to experience it.
8.5/10
Yeah the crowd was pretty annoying on Saturday but it's been like that the last few times at Guv and I guess I gotta deal with it or I'll just stay home or go somewhere else. It was pretty hot though and those NO2 blasts were awesome And my ears were ringing bad yesterday, I hate forgetting my earplugs home
I really enjoyed the night cause it's refreshing from the normal trance stuff that a lot of other trance DJs play which are all from ASOT and a lot of of them are fluff and cheese. Sean Tyas and Simon Patterson both have their unique own style that separates themselves from the other trance DJs. Thanks for a great night guys!
