I started out with trance as my #1, then grew into house, really.

While I listen to, love, and appreciate both genres, house is more in my soul than trance is.

The way a house DJ throws a subtle, or sometimes not so subtle, break and/or addition at the end of a 4-4 is just more compatable with my dance style.

Trance style dancing is more liquid which helps in the long builds and breaks.

Again, IMO it boils down to what your particular dance style is.

House = Soul
Trance = Emmotion

Both house and trance have their merits and detractions, but I think to truly love our culture as a whole, we have to at least appreciate each genre and sub-genre for what they bring.

for those saying house music sucks, without any "life", post tracks or videos to substantiate your claim

I like all EDM. But am obviously a house head. But there are so many sub-genres of house now... I kinda have my own flavor. I like the old funky, feelgood stuff. (examples below) But also like prog (which can sound very trancey to me) and electro, and LOVE tech house. Trance is good too sometimes... (I agree with Dave, the newer melodies kinda all sound alike), but sometimes I'll hear a random song and go I esp like the harder bass-lines. But these below are def good examples of what I'm feelin. Some people tell me I'm still stuck in the 90's, but I don't care!

I don't think all house is lifeless, I happen to enjoy some tech house every now and then, but I'll post some of what I consider "boring" when I get home from work later.

I do want to make clear that the main reason I find house boring is because house DJs play it for hours straight without variety. When solid house tracks are mixed with progressive and trance, I can enjoy it.

I guess I should already complain about the previous posts.

Yes classics are awesome but who actually plays them? Not even Trance DJs play many classics live.

Name some recent House tracks...SHM - One doesn't count.

the youtube clips posted above are way too slow, way too boring, and wayy too loungey. it sounds like opener dj music when i'm waiting for a big trance dj to go on.

i guess everybody has their own opinion..some electro house is cool like the newer style of tiesto, lbl, swm..stuff that markus, ferry, sander, and at times armin sprinkle in their sets.
