200 MB is around 25 songs at 192 bitrate. . . I cannot comprehend how someone could have less than 25 songs (they dont have to be all trance even. . .just share what you have)

While I understand that those of you on dialup modems cannot really upload and download at a decent speeds simultaneously, I still think that raising the share limit to 500MB or 1GB wont do any long term harm.

Realize this: Nobody in their right mind is going to download from any of you on dialup UNLESS you have something rare. (some dialup users feel honored if they upload anything, cause it means they have something others dont) If you do have something rare and you want to minimize the impact, all you have to do is upload it once or twice max. Just ask someone who is connected 24/7 to dl it from you and share it. After that, just tell the ppl downloading from you where they can get it faster than 1KB/s. I am sure they wouldnt mind waiting 5 minutes for an open slot off someone else so they could get it in 5 minutes, rather than wait all day for it to dl off you.

The more people that have a file, the less the odds they will download it off a modem user.

If storage space is your complaint, perhaps it would not be too difficult to spend $30 and get a used 10 GB HD. You couldnt hear Tiësto or PvD live for that price, but you can store 100 of their live sets for it.

just my $0.02

well guys, i think the minimum slots should be 3 slots for EVERYONE!
as someone else said, there is no way of getting your slots filled for long when at a less than 10KB/s line...

as for the minimum, i was gonna vote for more than 1Gb, but you guys made it clear to me, that's not what the ta spirit is all about...

we should contribute all our mp3 (and not just part of them), even at a slower line. i'm on an ISDN 64K, and i'm sharing 27GB (only 13 of them are trance). i have no problem at all, neither will uploading 3 tracks kill my bandwidth at all.

what i REALLY hate to see though is people to be on a descent line and only share 300MB, i saw this guy yesterday having 2sets & a trance track shared. he was on a dsl though...

it would be helpful if we knew who the ops are, so that in such cases we could inform them of something weird that is going on...

i voted for 1 gb. 1 gb isnt that much. You can also share your cd-rom, so you will only need to share from hd about 300-400 mb.
i am not on ta hub, but i use other hubs on dc, like sweden #01 jah.
Good place to get trance aswell. But mostly new stuff.

1GB is fine. We did that on OLDO's hub and everybody started to share. Because alot of people have (example) 10 gigs of mp3s, but only share 900MB. On the hub, suddenly everybodys shares went up. And if they didnt they got kicked. So 1GB is easy to hit.

Yep I'm the same - only 2GB hard drive but I've got loads of tunes on CDR which I continually flow through my shared folder

like most people said on here 1 gb aint much.

most modern computers with big hdd's and access to fast connections, will allow you to share a gig easily, and as for the 200mb users, theyre usually 56k people, who dont harm anyone anyway, they download slowly, so they dont hog your bandwidth etc...

what i dont like is people only sharing "parts of there mp3s that are stored on theyre hdd"

DC is there to share, not restrict.

if you get the latest stuff and people pester you, then so be it, let the people have it and it provides more mirrors for other people to get it, dont "unshare" it and stop people from spreading it.

also, if you pay for your bandwidth you cant complain when you go over. if you cant afford to do it you shouldnt

sorry slightly off topic, but ive got it off my chest

Well I've got a new PC on order with a 40gb hard drive - bit better than my current 2gb effort so i will be able to share a lot more. Still feel for everyone with only 2gb hd's like my current one as sharing even over a gig is near impossible. I think leave it as is.

Raise to 1 gig or more.

I used to share alot less then I do today (altho it depens on what
disks that are mounted) just because I was greedy, well, i changed.
Greedy ppl can stay at the public hubs, raise the minimum share
and lets get kickin!
