If i recall, in his 2001 essential mix he dropped an Astral Project track (if you consider them goa)

I certainty don't think J00F is scared to play different styles.

He uses interesting bass lines, creative percussion, and NOT EVERY FUCKING TRACK HE CREATES IS AN ANTHEM (THANK GOD)

Than listen directly to psy instead of expecting some crumb from your "guru/god".

I probably love psy much more than you and infact I listen to it rather than praying some mediocre producer that totaly fails merging it with his crap.

Full psy is way more interesting and free than his boring attempts.

How can anyone not like his 2001 mix is completely beyond me. Personally I think it personifies everything good in trance.

His mixes are FAR from those he criticize, his production skills as well.

Rofl, full on psy gets fucking boring. Its the same damn bassline over and over and over... Not that I don't like it, the sound is just limited and has grown stale. But track after track of full on? Common man....

It is useless to criticize, if you don't provide examples of what JOOF should produce, according to you, to actually make the claim he does.

Also what does being "way more free" even mean? Do you think he is forced by his followers to produce what he produces?!

Hey, mate, watch it. I spin full-on sets!

I do agree with you, that's why you have to do a lot of digging to find good tracks that don't sound like 90% of the trash out there.

@TranceElevation: his crowds don't do psytrance anymore, so he has to do the next best thing, prog trance with a hint of prog-psy. His Psytrance Euphoria mixtapes don't come close to the real power of psy, but he provides the most accessible of the bunch. If he went up there and started spinning hardcore Twilight or Forest psy, a whole bunch of people would be confused.

I really want him to come in this thread and put you to shame, it's one thing to sit here and trash the man for making productions that aren't as cool as real psytrance, but he's going out and flattening dancefloors every week and you don't consider that. He's just playing what the kids want, and a majority of the time, it's better than the garbage the Top 10 is playing.

I have nothing against good full on bro don't take that the wrong way. What I am saying is I like my basslines changed up. J00F drops some full on tracks, which I like.

I just dont like shitty full on track after shitty full on track (there seems to be alot of shit in the genre, just like there is alot of shit in epic trance.)

If the tracks are good, of course it does not matter but like I said, I prefer my basslines changed up and while I really like psy trance, I simply prefer what J00F spins. If that makes me one of those kids, then so be it, but I simply dig J00F's style whether it be his productions or mixes which take me to another dimension. Isn't that what trance music is all about in the first place

And I do occasionally listen to forest trance when the settings are right hehe

I didn't mean the sub-genre full-on you dickhead! Was telling you that I'd listen to a psychedelic track than something from J00F that has only "some elements" of the genre. If you like something take all of it rather than being satisfied with less - and mediocre.

The problem here is that nowadays, if some famous producer/dj (JOOF, Activa) come here telling how bad is the current scene, everybody fall on his knees praying the god for telling us something we already knew!

The point is that if you're out there and spit on the scene you should be able to bring something different.

Now tell me concretely, in what the latest productions by Activa are different (more special) than the tons of uplifting shit we receive daily by the various shows? In absolutely nothing. The same electric bassline, the same (epic) breakdown, the same track structure, the same boring formula. At least if the melody was somehow special? But neither this. So Activa, J00F and all those acting whores can go and take it in their asses.

HAH, thats funny because even before Activa came out and said that, I had played his CD "This World" over 30 times. You can check my last.fm if you really want, Activa is one of my most played artists. I also liked J00F before his essential mix, who would have known?

Activa makes quality uplifting trance, some of the only stuff I listen to. His music is loads better than anjunabeats, armada, flashover, and black hole all put together.

His music is different, your taste is simply shit if you cannot see Activa has his own style, a drive beyond that over other uplifting producers. His buildups and breakdowns are not over the top, his music more progressive. I like the techy elements in his tracks. And for uplifting trance, his music is much deeper than other producers. I would say his style comes much closer to a more techy and a bit more cheesy Airwave than say, Above & Beyond.

Talk all the shit you want, but you couldn't tell a quality tune if it slapped you in the face.

J00F Is the one of few that play/make real music, not pop and sell out like others.

J00F is not overrated. Troll!!

Ha ha, I knew it someone was going to post this one. How predictable you have to be...

The only problem is that even this one is bad in its try. Basically a track from the 90's with today's music equipment.

From what I could see till now you have a very low exigence from music.
And if you're ok with Activa's latest productions I can't really see why someone as you should bash the current scene. Infact I could name tens of recent producers that are equivalent to Activa.
Really, if is this what you're asking from trance so you should stop complaining and just enjoy what's been produced nowadays.

Or maybe you're doing it just to follow the bashing trend? Do you wanna feel a part of something that seems cool to you?

Pathetic.
