PP seems a mix between the unfriendly and the /ignore unless you're a local name.
My first time posting in there was not a very friendly experience anyway. (Eddie, bless his kind heart, made it a bit better )
I'm fairly new around here myself. From the boards I've browsed, many of the local producers here produce better stuff than most.(which is why I'm lurking around still )
I'm not sure how everything sounds the same to some of ya...Aside from the typical sub-genre rule stipulations, which keep songs of that sub-genre sounding similar, the tracks posted in the PP sound varied enough to me. (With a few exceptions)
Maybe I just haven't listened to enough trance...*shrug*
I liked the idea about a WIP section. I assume that any track where you're looking for some feedback on it before you're sending it to a label is a WIP. Short-track, long track, doesn't make a difference does it? Would be nice to see less "stop posting your unfinished shit!" (which is fair if a producer is only putting out his WIPs and can't finish a fking track >=|)
I've had tracks go from WIP to "finished" with the help of these boards though...
[rant]Lastly, it's so amusing to me that people feel the need to bitch about mediocrity, in a place where there is obviously a distinct shortage of critical feedback.
If a shitty track gets 0 feedback, it will probably remain a shitty track. So bravo, those of you who don't give feedback on tracks for whatever reason, you are only helping the problem.[/rant]
I think the do unto others philosophy would work well here. "I like my shit commented on, you do too, so lets work something out "

I USE to post my tracks over there when I was a newbie but since then have pretty much ignored the rules.
I do this for 2 main reasons.
1) Almost nobody leaves feedback in PP
2) Because I've established a "relationship" with users in the production forum, and it changes a lot of things.
To elaborate. When I post over in PP nobody knows my name, I could just be another random dickhole who doesn't contribute to the forums for all they know.
Over here, even though not everyone likes me, people still know my name and KNOW I'm a regular poster. If I see a track in this forum I'll be glad to leave feedback, its much more personal, I get better advice because people are familiar with my past sticky points, and the quality of the advice in this forum overall is just more personal/honest.
Over in PP I get very nonpersonal responses, and its usually not even feedback I'm looking for. Its either "good track" or "needs work" while over here I get a much more elaborate explanation about WHAT needs work.
So I prefer this forum more.
I also notice people posting in PP who I've never seen in my life, and I don't really give a shit about their music. While over here if I see cyro, jive, sako, kysora, dj rann, m4b or ANY of the regular posters post a track, I actually WANT to listen to it and post a review. So I mainly ... well now I ALWAYS use this forum. As long as I don't overabuse it and post a different track every week, I never really saw a big deal about it. And seeing how rules really aren't enforced on this forum anyhow.. it makes it that much more pointless to really care. Just being honest.
