with trance being dead and all it it was bound to happen |
Trance is not dead, what is dead however are the old school trancers who are out of touch.
Armin, Tiesto, PVD, Ferry, Oakenfold...sorry guys. Over.
Tracks like Jochen Miller- Humanoid, Michael Woods- Dynamik, Mr Pit- Sky Traffic, Pobsky- Final Cloud, Markus Schulz- Surreal....these are all tunes that blew my mind this year and I am proud to say are TRANCE!
What is not trance is that pop vocal bullshit. I hate to say this, but looks like DJ Sammy was a freakin pioneer. Ahead of his time? What a disgrace. Screw this, its time for change. Actually last year was time for change but the ASOT sheep (who by the way complained every freakin week about how much Armin sucked) they still came out and supported their cult leader. Armin has been viciously raping trance to the point nobody wants to be associated with it. I feel bad for guys like Markus Schulz who says he is not ashamed of saying he is trance, but meanwhile he is furthest from the bullshit that ASOT people call trance. The fact that he is in the video "Where Trance Went Wrong" is also a disgrace. One listen to guys like him, Sied Van Riel, Phynn and even Michael Woods shows that they are in a different class.
I am so pissed right now at what is happening to this beautiful genre of music. Those greedy pricks (Armin and Tiesto) ruined it.

The guy got too big as a trance DJ and now he's trying to change styles. It's not going to work...people are expecting him to play trance when they go to his shows. |
Which is exactly why he's pissing me off. I'm a big tiesto fan up to Kaleidoscope, but you don't build your career for 10 years as the biggest trance DJ and then spit everyone who supported you for those years in the face. I knew exactly in which direction he was going when I heard his Calvin Harris - I'm not alone remix and saw that he pretty much played it at every gig (still does I think). He was heavily influenced by Calvin Harris and Dada Life (they basically make his tracks nowadays) and started going into that direction and really tries to break into the mainstream US EDM scene. I said back when One (Know you name) was released it's only a matter of time before he starts doing something similar - well wouldn't you know it; he's doing a track with Busta Rhymes and another track with Jay-Z.
Seriously, he's like a kid in the toys store; "gotta have this, and this,...". So just look at what is popular at the moment and you can bet your ass there will be a tiesto track doing the same shit in 2-3 months.
