it involved live mixing not only polls... what i've done in the past doesn't matter, i started playing the most underground shit without sucess, i kept some integrity but dropping a well known vocal track is something you have to do, the line between having integrity and being stupid is very thin, if people don't like what you play you are failing, if you can play a known track every 3 unknown tracks you are getting people linked to your set without being a slave.

If i think that playing for a commercial crowd is hard it's just because they only accept a small amount of what EDM is. 128-130bpm tracks, vocals simplistic and groovy without any breakdown, dubstep, breakbeat or part that makes the track different from the others.

Now i can play almost what i want which is fine, this is like start working cleaning the floor in Microsoft, if you know that in the end you'll manage that company having 1,000,000,000 $ i think it's worth cleaning the floor for some time.

And this year i've seen Gareth Emery, Markus Schulz , AvB and J00F some of the most successful and well i don't regret i've seen AvB i learnt a lot of how to manage a crowd technically and taste wise is far from being the best dj but i've never seen a dj achieving so much reactions, it's logical that at the start of the set people is "Oh oh Armin oh dear..." but he managed to keep this atmosphere for 3 hours long.

The scene is segregated but there are so many links between styles this is a part of a set a few months ago 1st hour of semi-commercial house i call it, this is house mainly but i add some techno and progressively some tech trance.

This is only the real cheesy stuff but this is the 1st hour, some vocals and well known tracks are a must, however i hate vocal versions because often the vocals are the main elements and the rythm-melody has less work , but playing an acapella over rythmic track is something djs should try more to make more music accesible to the mainstream.

I don't have any scientific research but i have heard this statement so many times "I like house but only if it has vocals" stupid imo but with vocals over it you can play almost everything, this is curious indeed but simplifys the dj work a lot, you can build your set as you like (and having fun yourself is important, i am now starting to have fun, i think i started smoking because of david guetta ) and if you think people is getting bored you can pick some well known vocal tracks and off you go!

Lads i'm just warning you, do not let this turn into a rant and rave about music tastes. Leave that to the music discussion forum as I and everyone else here dont want an opinion war to start here on what we classify as cheese commercial and everything in between.

aside from music what about a place to find dj tools to add to a set.

Like acapella, synths, something to loop etc...

while i know it's kind of relavent. The producer forum might have more of an idea of where to find those clips. Although feel free guys to post your advice here
