That's another thing with a lot of these smaller labels. Getting your track on BeatPort isn't everything. The label has to have great contacts and a great reputation to get it on the decks of Top 10 DJs. If the label releases nothing but shit with a diamond in the middle, no one is sifting through the shit to find a diamond.

True. I just don't want to be caught counting only the misses while I'm bracing for him to slam my already julienned (as in cut to ribbons) body of work.

And it's not as though BeatPort has this stellar reputation as an upright market-place. There's a fundamental problem with the industry when there's no possible way to make money (I'm talking living expenses - not an exotic car collection) as a producer without having a primary revenue stream, whether it's a day job or playing gigs.

It's not necessarily Nueva's fault, as they're just a cog in a rather large and inefficient machine. This contest, along with any negativity experienced towards it, is a symptom of an over-saturated market with low standards and a top-heavy revenue allocation which places importance on volume over quality.

I would say, work from your own strenghts, rather than others weaknesses. It's so easy to blame, the market, the non committed hobyists, the .... (fill in the dots yourself) At the end of the day labels will always prefer a quality track of a shite track, If your not on there that means (gents in general, no one on this forum specific) that your track is even more shite... it's as simple as that, they're releasing, you're not... (and again let me stress that this is nothing towards someone specific, it's just a general reply on the frustration around mediocre tracks)

they dont want quality, they want quantity. So every boring repetitive EDM track can be replaced quickly with a new one, month after month. That means downloads in beatport keep growing. If you make quality track, that last more time, and that are appealing to a mass of people, then it becomes more easy to get them through illegal downloads.

good point. They track that work for them have to just meet a commercial standard sound and whatever is put inside is ok. A fast made track doesnt sound as a one that has been worked for a lot of time, but not mainly because the sound design quality, but because when you work in a track for litle time, melody and ideas tend to be more quick working but after listening for some times they loose interest. Instead well produced and lasting tracks, you can listen it every time and you would find different things and moods, a classical music piece you can hear it 100 of times and every time you like it more.

We have lots of quality tracks that have been playlisted by big name DJs.
