Yea, modern buildings are fine, but a lot of our other infrastructure, bridges, tunnels, etc, are very old and not up to the same codes and standards. The Alaskan Way Viaduct in Seattle is a big concern, since viaducts like that one collapsed in Oakland and Kobe and killed many people.
