And while System might have been the "it" space for that particular generation, pound for pound it would have a hard time holding a candle to the mid-90s insanity that was Industry Nightclub (and I say this having attended both regularly).

Nothing will ever compare to Industry. It truly is the Studio 54 of toronto. I had the pleasure of working for them back in the day as well. The vibe and the music were incredible. System was fun but i found it very sterile compared to what i was used to at Industry

Agreed, you can;t compaire them and Industry wins by a long shot. I've only caught the final year of Industry when the rave scene was dying and didn't experience it's prime years. I heard Canada's debute of Paul van Dyk was seriously off the hook.

I never hear any negative stories about that place; only one event ppl were not happy about ... the rammed jammed over crowded Basement Jaxx.

I don't know, I think you'll have people who like both just the same. I actually preferred System and the music of Bang/Breathe over a lot of the music I heard at Industry. I wasn't into a lot of the fluff/diva they played there some nights. However it's all subject to debate as is music itself. To each their own.

So sad I never went. It closed before I moved here.

Industry, Turbo, and Meow are as far back as I go, I'm afraid.

Industry was a wicked club! That was the first EDM club to come out of the rave scene as things started to change. Loved the back corner, a lot of good times had back there. Danny Tenaglia and Richie Hawtin were two of my favorite nights.

They closed in 2000 I think.

I never liked Bassment back then, not sure why...it was always really dark and grimy. CZ used to be called Buzz, that place was a lot of fun on Sunday mornings back in the day.

I used to love the E parties too, which started as a kinda "counter the big commercial rave" type of thing. There first party in the west end was AWESOME, had that wicked small family type vibe like the earlier nineties. As the raves got big, in the thousands, it lost that type of feeling.

You talking about the old E!Space on Gunns Road? How many of today's V.I.P./bottle service set would get down until the wee hours in a dirty old meat packing plant?

First vid, that's me in and around the 4 minute mark, dropping a minty-fresh copy of Jamie Lidell's remix of Cristian Vogel's "Don't Take More". Props to Marty McFly for the sweet video archive!

Yeah man, they started out as parties at different venues but then started the Friday night at the E Space. I think I still have a flyer from there too! They were in the basement of the meat packing plant. I actually remember throwing a rave in the actual plant above, and the guys had to power wash the flowers before everything was setup!!! How many people were dancing away not knowing where they were!! lol

FTWK and Element were really good. Was anyone at the Oakenfold set when he played at Fluid? 1999 I think.
