He only said that someone's suggestion that they do one was a good one, and asked for peoples' thoughts. I am curious still who is behind their FB account though.

As to the possibility of a massive going off aside from the annual regulars, I think the city has made its feelings pretty clear. Unless the past couple that got shut down only suffered their fate because they didn't pay off the right people beyond the standard fees.

the gigs that get have been getting shut down, moved, oversold or undersold tend to be the ones put on by the same organisation time and time again. Call it bad luck or overzealousness from the city if you want, but truth be told that organisation is run by ppl who can't count to potato, even.

The list is far too long and too comical to chronicle on here

Anyways, I'd like to see the Circus, Stereo, Piknic ppl do a big massive, either collectively or separately

i wanted to hate it so bad maher, because well its pretty cheesy....but at the same time this is probably going to be the big tune of the summer. I don't know when the digital version comes out, but Phonica is sold out and i got one of the last copies from Piccadilly.

Now i need leggings and eskimo sun glasses.

Sure, but is anyone else trying? Regardless of their tater tallying skills, the thread describing events of why their last party at Pepsi Forum got shut down made it pretty clear that the city can use use a slew of technicalities to shut down any event they want after the promoter has fully invested in it and all tickets are sold. I really don't think dwindling demand is the only reason we're only seeing a couple massives per year now, and those generate so much revenue that I'm sure they're paying off the right people quite comfortably. This is just my estimate of what's going on, of course, but I think there's enough evidence to support it.

The city doesn't just do this to electronic events. Last year there was a Green Day concert at the old port. The city revoked the liquor license last minute, effectively crippling a huge segment of revenue for a company that pays them an insane amount of taxes every year. (Bell Center is one of the buildings with the highest property taxes in the province.) It sad, because events like those have benefits to all of the surrounding vendors and do bring tourist dollars to the city. Local politics are impossible to understand sometimes.

Pepsi seems like a risk to me, espcially after the first Sensation there.

As for intelligence, I think that trait left those guys couple of years ago.
