but you have 'gaylick' football

Nou, Yes. Easily. I used to get the kicking job in rugby at school because not only could I hoof it, but I could place it too. Hours of playing sports help that.

Also when I saw CFL, the 'competition' was for some woman to build a burger out of inflatable pieces. She forgot the onions fwiw.

Yeah but as they play in Northern Ireland with pipebombs, hurling becomes less fun & more of a 'stay alive' game

We are getting an MLS franchise next year. Football is pretty well supported here. They sold out a friendly vs AC Milan last year in a 50 000+ stadium. I'm just not sure the quality of the product is enough to get a casual fan like myself interested.

I like turtles.

Like Toronto. You both have great infrastructures and would easily bring a lot of revenue to the game. I think that the MLS in general is the problem. With the way the game is run there with salary caps & everything it will always detract from a team being able to build a great side like european sides can for example. It keeps competition even but in football it's not just about that, it's about seeing talented expensive teams fail against those built on a much smaller budget etc.

The thing is, if you want to build a fan base in a relatively new league, parity can be good to ensure a competitive balance. The markets are not strong enough in the "New World" for football to sustain a league over a territory the size of the MLS if fans have to put up with teams that are nothing but fodder. Interest will fade and shit teams will fold incessantly, meaning that the MLS can never truly be a credible league.

You can't apply the same thinking as in Europe in markets that don't have the "football culture" in them naturally. There are also many more sports to follow here, so competition is already stiff enough as it is for entertainment dollars in an economic downturn.

I guess but we have plenty of other sports here that people follow. Rugby has 2 codes, cricket, cycling, tennis & many more, people follow a shitload really. I understand the point about the needing of parity but how long do you think it's needed for? I'd also say that Canada at least has a load of 'soccer' fans, half of the girls from my brothers school play football at least once a week and some can even kick the ball Popularity wise, it's getting there but they need teams they can fully relate to who can compete with the other ones they know, so there should be a masterplan for the league at least to grow, doing so sustainably but also in quality.
