Ok, I have a suggestion for a 4th catergory: INNOVATION, and why that? you will ask yourself, here's why

you can fill a 60-80 minute set, with 12-15 songs which are currently the best ones out there, BIG DEAL, everyone can do that.

Innovation means, you pick out new stuff, old stuff, stuff which isn't known to the masses, and you put those in your set, making your set stand out from the other sets, delivering new song, innovating the sound.

Cyrax thought it was a good idea, think about it!

but then again thats being a bit biased coz hardly anyone knows prog tunes, but most people have heard of some trance track along the time. then again having different judges with different opinions on innovation it may work if you think about it. depends. apart from mike im yet to hear a set with a decent amount of quality harder tracks

that isnt a valid point, because if a contestant uses the bpm counters on their mixer (if they have one) then it is practically the same shit, so ya

I think the real point is there is a special function on programs like Traktor which have been brought to my attention (thanks Ste ) which totally eliminate the actual mixing effort and just auto match and sync the beats, all u hav 2 do is fade and eq, no beatmatching at all or flicking the beats into sync. That is where the problem lies, and sequencing mixes like Mixmaster and Wave Studio, etc.

although i do see your collective points on bpm counters in mp3 mixes, there's gotta be another way to let the mp3 guys mix too. I guess if the lot of you are so very much against letting mp3 guys in on this compo, then the idea of a seperate mp3 mixing compo doesn't sound so bad. (i'll host that one too if it becomes a reality)

as for the so called 'innovation' category, i too think it stinks. i say we cut it out altogether. just mark on the important stuff and leave no room for bias. we don;t want another compo #2 happening again.

dude my point was valid. What i was saying is that there are programs i hav seen/used that at the click of a button match the beats and at another 2 clicks cue and release the track. I dont no how good ur mixer is, but i am pretty sure it wont match the beats for you like software can do.

edit: whoops. just seen ProjectT's post above. hehe. no need for mine then.
