I had a great time... Gera and Teej were phenomenal just before Maya came on.
Maya's set was a little hit or miss imo. Some flat spots here and there, but overall I loved it. Definitely noticed the lack of dj experience.
Stayed until about 2:45 and then drove home.
PS- Gera/Teej what was that track you played main lyric being 'Under my sheets.../between the sheets' something like that. Im thinking its by Art department?

pretty much what I thought of her set, except I didn't think she was amazing, but decent. she's got a lot of years to learn how to DJ properly so hopefully next time she will be better. at least she's something different in tech house mad Toronto!

Dope party.
Did not think it would get so packed at 11! There was quite a bit of a lesbian draw. Enjoyed the last bit of Gera/Teej. Really liked Maya's track selection as I thought it was less bland and generic than some aspects of her EM. She lost me from 2:30 onwards. The flow of her set wasn't very consistent and left a lot to be desired.

She has a lot of potential, more than I have heard in a DJ in a long time. She has a very mature ear, she just needs more practice.

agreed. if she can harness her musical instinct shown on her productions and translate it into DJing too, she will be unstoppable. although some aspects of her set was a bit too techy for me, but she was a very refreshing change and I will deffo see her again

Maceo Plex - Under The Sheets
(one of the best from the summer for sure)
Pissed I missed this one, though from everyone I spoke to they said it was awesome.

I asked a bouncer what the capacity of wrongbar was and he said 330 - I think they were definitely peaking at 400+ which is way over crowded!! I hope they don't allow that many ppl in fore future events cuz it was just downright crazy anywhere near the dancefloor. There was no way you could dance freely without chopping buddy beside you in the face with your elbow or knocking someones drink...it was like Labour of Love packed and lots of people were super sloshed; was this really a Thursday evening?!?
As for the music, I thought Teej/Gera had a solid opening set. Loved some of the vocal deep house tracks they played! I only stayed until 2am but what I heard from MJC was musically pleasing. I enjoyed her track selection 10x more than Maceo Plex's. She played deep & groovy house and when she played tech it was definitely not Toronto tech house that we're all over saturated with - it was really cutting edge and raw. Fresh sounding tech in Toronto is something you don't see often enough and I quite enjoyed it! She transitioned like a beginner and played tracks really quickly but giving her the benefit of the doubt, she did fairly decent.
Solid Thursday night out. Marco Carola up next!

The transition to DJing for a lot of young producers tends to produce sporadic results on the dancefloor and programming usually suffers.
I've not heard her DJ and she is still quite young, so as she gets to play out a lot more I'm sure she'll be quite good. I remember James Holden going through this when he first started DJing (although now he's not my thing).
