PARTY
WAS
OFF
THE
CHAIN!
Amazing, go glad I made it up for this. Crazy vibe, crazy engergy, GREAT FUCKIN TUNES!
Plastic Dreams had me going mental how he teased and teased the drop and when it did...
Nice venue, drinks were expensive, but wasn't really drinking that much so it didn't bother me. Temperature was great, towards the end it got a bit warm, but nothing crazy/ Quick security, quick coat check (nice coat check girls!).
Lots of girls dressed up, not that i'm complaining, but didn't expect to see so many heels and miniskirts!
Couldn't turn around without bumping into a TOTA, fellow ravers, people you've partied with before, other people from Windsor, etc, etc.
Hope there are more parties like this again, but not to often, would take away from the appeal IMO.
Sound was great, BUT, maybe I'm being picky... if mids were raised up on the pillars instead of stacked on bass bins, it could have sounded better. But it did sound amazing regardless, at first I was a bit concerned but then the sound was banging.

The Organizers and everyone involved would like to thank everyone
for their support and kind words. Its you guys who bring the good
vibez and create the energy.
Big things are planned for 2012.
And as many have said, it takes a few events to get things rolling
in a new space. Especially in a warehouse like Downsview.
We have learned the venue dynamics and we can improve with every show.
Much respect.

U guys have improved more in 1 event than what some promoters have done in years of throwing parties
Kudos!

Still reeling from this party!!
Oh, how much I love partying in new spaces. It felt like I was back in England instead of Toronto. Such a fresh night out
Not a whole lot to say that hasn't been said already. Sound was good for the most part but I found there was a little too much high end which forced my ear plugs to go in. Sounds like it was a massive improvement over Halloweem, though. Lots of space to dance was a huge bonus. There was obviously a tonne of room for more people but it was still busy enough to give a great vibe. Cox was certainly in top form! Absolutely relentless. His energy while mixing was through the roof. I love seeing djs as into the music as the crowd. Sneak impressed me too. First time seeing him and he wasn't nearly as bad as I've heard from others.
My biggest complaint was how bright it was. Obviously it can only get so dark because everything is painted white (are there darker warehouses available for rent?). Was it necessary to have all those white lights around the carnivale logo or strung from the ceiling? They should swap those out for more LED lights which look awesome! The house lights that were in in the 4 corners of the main room also seemed unnecessary.
$8 drinks seems ridiculous when people are already shelling out $35-60 for cover.
All in all, I had an incredible time. My friend brought up a good point that the reason we're likely seeing parties like this sprout up now is because the liquor law has just recently changed to allow special events like this to serve alcohol until 2AM like clubs instead of 1AM. With that extra hour they're not only able to compete head to head with any bar or club but the added revenue makes renting out such a massive space more affordable. I can't wait to see how these parties at Downsview (and other spaces) progress in 2012 (SVEN VATH!! )

the lights
Russel Edwards has been doing the lights at parties in Toronto since I can remember.
He knows whats what, and that was the vibe they asked for in terms of lighting.
I shook his hand at the end of the night, because from a photography standpoint alone, I've been waiting to shoot a party that can look like that for a long time.
I can understand not wanting it as bright from the dancefloor perspective however.
Either way.....I can't wait til NYE.

DJ Sneak posted on his Facebook wall today that there will be a Carnivale NYE party. I'm guessing he's one of the bookings, but I'm looking forward to seeing the others!

Likewise buddy I'm sure the vibe will be even thicker.
Details will be released within the next couple of weeks, will post as soon as I get the O-K from the organizers.

What's the big deal about the Koen Groenveld remix of Plastic Dreams? Honestly I think that was one of the low points of his set that made me actually stop dancing. I'm gonna just assume that this is the only track people could actually ID, hence why people liked it lol
