Gave this one a listen, although i probably shouldn't have. But i guess there's no harm done.

The mixing and selection was excellent. But i was already quite frustrated with the music it contained and this one seems quite an appropriate final nail-in-the-coffin since at least i can't fault the mixing for it.

Admittedly i did get sucked in for a lot of it, as much as i felt like a sucker for that. It truly is the the best old-school mixing music there is, with ever so warm and stellar production. But after about an hour i got a bit tired of differentiating the one plinky-plonk melody overlayed with soft breakbeats and side-chained baseline from the other.

What I'm getting from this thread is that we're all getting pretty damn bored of prog.

Well I quite enjoyed it, got me through a particularly nasty journey up to a conference last week (theres a reason I live close enough to the office to avoid the tube). My only complaint, if you can really call it that, would be that I kinda wanted a bigger peak around track 11, the ending felt a little flat I guess.

But yeah, good stuff, will stay on the player for a while

Cheers Dave. What kind of big peak would you use at 130bpm?

Speak for yourselves

I'm pretty sure I was the first person to download this and I am sad I wasn't the first to hear it. Absolutely loved it, man. I thought the flow was great. That DSO track is one of my favorites on Bedrock, but I've always had some problems working it in. You did a great job building up to it and then moving on to the more standard 4/4. It was actually the only song I had heard before, so I'm glad I can look into the other tracks for more new stuff.

No complaints to be had. Will definitely give many more listens

Thanks man, you did get world exclusive news of it on Last.fm. Although I guess if you've not heard any of these tracks before you've not really listened to much post-2002 prog, which is probably why you're not bored of this sound yet.

Great selections all around. I do get tired of prog after I overdo it, but its always a sound I can come back to after a few months and enjoy again.

Really like the choice of the last track, still my favorite release from Mistique. Absolutely massive.

Thanks for the listen.

Cheers. I've been wanting to use that remix of Wind City in a mix ever since it came out, I thought it was a pretty epic way to close this one.

This progged well with me. Nicely done intro and some really smooth mixing. PROFESSIONAL. Profound. Overall I enjoyed this, but I must echo similar sentiments in this thread and say that I'm overly bored of this sound in full sets. A sweet, functionally well executed mix in all aspects.

Thanks man. If Austin is bored of prog, then prog is officially over.

Haha, yeah... I mean, it's not even necessarily that prog sound, because I still love all the elements. I just can't listen to hour+ long progathons anymore, much less mix prog for more than like, 20 minutes or so in a set.

I still think this type of music is great for throwing down in sets, and I think it works in a lot more places than people will give it credit for, if done right.
