e: not mad, just mind blown. this level of cognitive dissonance is astounding even for TA
here's the link you can read since you seemed to gloss over the entire thread http://forums.somethingawful.com/sh...hreadid=3301274 |
Take it easy Jon. I'm not going to get into a "nerd war" with you on TA and make you look like an idiot like I did to your boy Jim Carson.

You sure do have a lot of time in that little cubicle of yours Jon. Stick to what you know (video games, virginity, face-painting, and dressing up like a douche [as seen on an earlier thread]) instead of going to some blog and copying and pasting information that is almost 2 years old and making assumptions about a profession you know nothing about.

wow. delusional? You spent two weeks jumping in defending Jim any chance you could.
Relax bro, smoke a bowl or something. Why all the hate toward law school. Everybody is having trouble finding jobs, yes Law school is more expensive than other fields, but that is for a good reason.

Actually in terms of all the sorts of things you could do Law School is a very bad idea at the current moment.
If people really want to do it, I suggest they wait until the economy bounces back. If someone's interested in the money, it's in the Health Industry.
It is my understanding that post-recession Law Grads are doing just as bad in finding jobs as everyone else except they also have 100K in Debt, and student loans are ridiculous, with no consumer protections. I tried to have an honest convo with my best friend who is now going to Law School, and I hoped that I helped her understand a bit better what her chances are of actually being able to pay that debt.
I think its super hard to understand the on the ground reality unless you actually graduated from college post-recession or are parent of someone who did. Same goes for grad schools and law schools.

I wonder if anybody in has considered the idea that perhaps it may be one's passion to study law. That somebody may have always wanted to practice law since they were young. Yes lawyers can make alot of money, and perhaps many are greedy and do it only for that, but that is the case for most high paying professions.
I know law graduates who have turned down more money to work as a public defender because they believe in the rights of the accused. Lawyers can be some of the greediest on the planet, but have you all considered theyre may be many who have a passion for practicing law?
I think advice such as, "wait til the recession is over" to go to law school is out of the question. It isnt something that you just decide to do one day because the economy is good. There are steps that need to be taken, and timeing is highly relevant in the decision process.
Oh yea, and theyre are plenty of Business school programs that cost 100k across the country, and those grads are looking for work at the moment as well.
While I agree that medical school is a great option, and the future for doctors may be bright. There are lawyers out there making a living putting doctors out of business, being a doctor comes with risks as well. And im pretty sure that med school holds a hefty price tag at the moment, and that your compition upon graduation is going to be quite strong. With all the questions left from the Obamacare shenanagans, and the future role of government in the healthcare industry, it increases the uncertainty for medical grads substantially.

of course. i have a ton of friends who ask me "should i go to law school?" what a loaded question. i usually tell them that look, it's not a good job market right now and it probably doesn't make fiscal sense to go out and borrow $150,000 to take three years out of your life when you don't know whether or not it can take you anywhere. but at the end of the day, if you want to practice law (or teach law, or whatever), there's only one way to do it, and that's law school...
