I bet if anything, they are there for inspiration. which leads to being more productive.

plus some people are just wired differently they need a lot of options, he is from a different era, so I bet its like having 100 different soft synths.

For the hell of it I popped open Reaper and counted the stock plugs. Over 250. And they are "all" VERY useable...just no pretty GUI to wank over. We basically have the software equivalent (pure 'analog' sound quality aside) of JJPs studio and bitch about it until we spend a couple MOAR! grand on MOAR! plugs to be 'happy'.

And I imagine Logic/Protools/et all are similarly equipped.

We really are so spoiled it really is pathetic. 20 years ago people saved up months for a single comp or whatnot. We have 10 to begin the day. And I'm just as guilty as the rest in wanting MOAR! stuff so I'm not on any moral high horse about it

Imagine what they could have done in 1990 with an i7 loaded with any stock modern DAW with only the stock plugs. It would have been like us having JJPs Ocean Way studio room installed in our bedroom. and we take it for granted that somehow that same DAW in stock form 'ain't good enough'.

MOAR!!!!!!

more so the signs of how the recording industry once was. Alot of money being made, alot of it not being reported, you buy gear. And client wants something, you buy it and just keep it just in case. And since there is no point selling it as you just don't get a good return unless you are really hard up, you just keep it.

Do they use it, no. Was it used, probably. But over the course of 30 years and being in that room every day, what might seem like a lot to take in really is not that intimidating if you are used to seeing all that stuff. These types of studios are usually private as a public studio would not sacrifice ergonomics for this cluster fuck of shit that just makes most people anxious.

And most engineers like gear, They collect it. They are proud of their microphone collection and would sell their first porn over parting with their modded vintage gear that nobody else on the planet has.

I think it is nice. It looks usable and not drab.

Where is the keyboard and control knobs and sliders though, are the controls mapped through the board via a protoolsesq surface... like can the channel controls be used as a midi control?

I am suprised there is no keyboard visible though.

Nice none the less.

last time I checked, you are a dumb ass latino who's aspirations stop at lawn mowing and fence painting, not my manager. So perhaps remove yourself from the vicinity of my nuts and go apply some primer somewhere else. I invite you cordially to fuck off.
