1) You're contradicting yourself by complaining about the content of my thread and then declaring that the forum is in a state of decline. It appears that you have little to offer, yourself, when your entire post is an over-reaching complaint that adds nothing to the overall conversation; qualitative or otherwise. While I've seen you post once in a while, it's hard for me to see that you've been much of a regular poster, lately. Is that because you see this place as negative or hostile? My earnest suggestion to you is that if you do not like the content you're reading, in my thread or this forum, start a thread that concerns the content that you'd prefer. I certainly haven't relegated myself to finding fault with the newb questions that pop up with stifling regularity nor does this thread just concern itself with those. I'd say I spent close to an hour or more, around noon, finding two old threads, one of which I bumped with what I thought were examples pertinent to the OP's topic. Conversely, I spent around ten to twenty minutes in my last reply to Fledz. By the time I'm done with this reply, however, I'll have probably spent half the time it took to write the OP.
2) The accusation of elitism holds no water. In fact, a few of my "helpful advices" parody notions that some people consider elite. It's safe to say that there were a few sacred cow's harmed in the making of this thread, and with the help of the edit feature, I'll add a couple of more as they occur. If you are attacking my currently unstated premise, I'd take a different issue with that in item #3.
3) The premise of this thread is that, at this point in history, there are a few basic concepts that people who want to produce music should be reasonably familiar with. In examining the list I put together from my Topic 86 project, one of the more prevalent features I found was that people were bringing in a lot of assumptions that were just flat-out wrong. The prevalence of these assumptions - such as mono PA's in clubs, it's okay to turn the master fader down/use a limiter to control volume, drugs should never/always be used, et al - floods this forum with inane bickering and pointless threads that detract from its ultimate purpose. Furthermore, it indicates that there are a lot of sources broadcasting this misinformation. I, personally, have read articles in publications such as Electronic Musician and Remix (among others) which have actually advised people to undertake things like authoring tutorials or becoming masters of social networking - and even lowering the master fader once clipping became an issue (among others) - to notice how bad information leads to a prevalence of bad practices.
The threads I am addressing have rarely led any one of their opening posters to become more informed on the topics they've raised. Most of the time, they do not go anywhere. When they haven't been started to troll, they lead to their OP's getting discouraged. If you want, I still have a MSWord file of opening posts with links to the threads that I can send to you, via private message, and you can see for yourself. A few (not more than three or four) have actually evolved into interesting discussion on some topics. Most of the 15+ pages I collected haven't. If they weren't started to troll, they degenerate into that.
4) This is not a meta-discussion about the forum and I'm definitely not going to let it turn into that. I am not trying to establish a list of topics which are verboten nor am I aiming to dictate group norms. That said, this is a peer community for which some amount of literacy is required for one to converse within it. This thread, utilizing rather widely aimed satire, is my attempt at addressing the fundamental illiteracy that occurs as a distraction, in this forum. Instead of being critical of the forum and raising the illiteracy as a point of contention with how the forum is run or how its populace comports itself, I'm dealing with it directly. I authored it on the same night I saw two threads concerning volume control on the front page. This thread is also not limited to the consistently recurring topics but to a whole host of subjects, from Beatport to obnoxious music industry marketing practices and its disgruntled drop-outs. It also alludes to quite a few glaring music and production mistakes I've heard in Music Producer's Promotion
5) A lot of this stuff has to do with information I was ignorant of and wish I'd known before I started posting here (volume control and self-mastering to name a couple). It is also clearly satirical. The fact of the matter is that this thread deals with topics everyone who is working in music production should know. It is definitely meant to blow off steam, but I'm hardly what I'd consider an "expert" when it comes to producing music and if you care to peruse my soundcloud profile, I'm pretty sure you can spot some obvious hypocrisy between what I preach, here, and what I have practiced, in the past.
