I would've gone with one of the new Nokia phones now, but the OS is still in its infancy, so I went with an Android phone. This time next year I'll probably switch over to a Nokia phone.

99% of that auto correct stuff online is fake. Iphone is a great product but more of a fad then a superior phone. I'm in the market for a new phone and I'm thinking Nexus. BB... was my last phone and it was crap other then bbm....

I personally don't think that BlackBerry does anything better than iPhone/Android, for the average user. I've done tests with friends before, and even email receipt times are similar, when you compare Exchange and BIS emails. BES may be a bit faster, but that's only for businesses. I've got a company BB phone, and I almost never use it, b/c my iPhone does just about everything better. BBM is alright, but RIM is thinking about licencing it out to other platforms in the next year, which would take any advantage BB has away from them.

BB's screens are way smaller, making it a pain to browse on any phone except perhaps the new Bold or Torch.

And don't even mention apps. BB is so deficient there, it's a joke. They don't even have simple apps like Teamviewer ... and I would consider that a business-related app.

As far as typing goes, I would say BB/Touch-screen are comparable, when you get used to it. Just check out the video on the first page of the iPhone/Mobile News thread. Some dude hits almost 80wpm on an iPhone! I haven't even heard of that speed on a BB. When you think about it, physically pressing a button cannot be faster than the responsiveness of capacitive screens.

I currently have an iPhone, but it's a 3GS, so I'm in the market for a new phone. I'm leaning towards Android (either the Galaxy S2, or Galaxy Nexus), but I'm not even considering BB.

... and I'm sure Apple (or anyone else) will give them a hell of a deal, just for promotional reasons more than anything else.

the Nexus is overrated. Go with a Samsung phone or something.

Samsung makes the Nexus. Google has a bit of sway in the design but for the most part it's pure Samsung parts and mostly them calling the shots. Most believe that's why there's a few specs that aren't as high as they could be (5mp instead of 8mp, 1.2 dual core instead of 1.5) in order to not make their own product line look inferior.

The fact Nexus has the buttons as part of the screen makes a huge difference. If I were buying an Android now and didn't want the Nexus I'd for sure wait for the new models made for ICS specifically come out.

It depends on whether a moose is crossing the train tracks in NFLD at the same time as it's 12pm in Sidney during a leap year.

I've worked with quite a few companies that are actually dropping BB's as the standard platform for mobile phones, and BES along with it.

I'm actually in a conference with work right now, and where last year the dozen people at a table would pull out their phones during keynotes, the majority would be blackberries. Today, in comparison, there was 9 iPhones, 3 iPads, 2 androids, and only 1 person still on a blackberry at my table. The funniest part, is the blackberry user was counting down the days for his contract to expire to make the switch.

As much as I have thought about making the switch to android, I just can't bring myself to do it. I love my Blackberry far too much. I have been though MANY different models over the last 10 yrs and I will continue to support my local company here in KW.

With that being said, I have my Bold 9900 on it's way to me now

I do work for BlackBerry and in working with a lot of the large organizations I can say that BlackBerry is increasing in many of the large organizations, I will admit that small businesses (250 users) and below are decreasing due to cost and active sync supporting Android and Iphones and they are not worried about managability and security.

BlackBerry is not going anywhere and feel that the BB10 devices due out in Sept will make them competitive in the consumer market again. North America is the only market that has made the major switch and it's a status thing I think. Iphones use much more data and cost end users more, also carriers are loosing tons of money selling the Iphones (verizon and sprint just posted huge losses despite have records quarters for sales of units), they have to subsidize the phones way too much to get it into users hands. Would you pay $499 for an Iphone on 3 year contract, thats what carriers will start to need to do to gain revenue back.

Article that Carriers hate the IPhone

I really hope BlackBarry can turn it around as they are a Canadian company and the Canada pension plan owns 2 million shares in RIM. Hopefully with the QNX OS moving to the deivces and having Android apps available will reallyget some people to move back. The QNX OS on the Playbook tablet is a real winner, very stable and powerful and was named best OS at CES just last month.

Time will tell.
