That's been the issue with most of the interface changes in a lot of OS's. They're all shifting toward the touch-screen and tablet market and not recognizing the different needs of different users. The same happened with the introduction of Unity to Ubuntu. Things that used to take 2 clicks now take 10 or a bunch of typing in the search tool. If you still use a desktop system or a laptop it's a pain in the ass.

Just compare their product innovation in the last 10 years to that of Google or Apple...

Apple's been doing the same thing!

I was about to say the same.
For example SIRI. Everybody acts like it's Apple's when in reality, the company that invented it was bought by Apple.

Lets not forget the amount of lawsuits dished out by Apple in the last 12 months alone against HTC, Samsung, Motorola, etc.

used Win8 Consumer Preview for about 20 minutes after prepping so much to install it on one of my partitions....was disappointed. IMO unless you have a touch screen, it's really annoying to use.

Plan on getting a touch screen laptop over the next year anyway so I should be ready for the official release

Couldn't a multitouch trackpad help accomplish the same thing for those not wanting to dish out for a touch screen?

I was just thinking about we ppl whom have a multi-monitor setup (in my case 3). A touchscreen OS may not be all that beneficial.
