you have unconscious prejudices that will naturally influence the way you make decisions , the way your CNS responds that even knowing you have these hardwired brain attributes are powerless to change them.

I think it is a little more complicated than simply calling someone a racist as that implies a belief which someone has knowledge of its existence but these types of underlying frameworks can and do influence people's decisions with race among many other attributes guiding the way. There are other studies showing how much of how we make decisions is heavily based on processes we don't control.

But ya, these are things you just don't control. They are not learned. Like being afraid of snakes. These types of processes governed by the older brain are almost instinctual. But you can control to some degree how you react to these thoughts.

Check out the IAT tests. They are fairly straight forward. They measure how the brain makes associations and how certain associations given the response time have certain biases that one would call racist.

I find generalizing based on experience especially with cultures and an understanding of the scope of those experiences and when they might be most likely accurate not such a bad thing. For example. I would not want to say invite a black man that raps into my studio if he is part of that retarded thug life where how to live is basically the culmination of every rap video culture. The back up rhythm section of Pfunk smoking crack , i would not cross the street . Race has a bit to do with it, culture more so. It happens more so that i fight my intuition and end up being wrong more so than just being prejudice. But each decision is made at that time, i would not say i have universal beliefs other than the poles are an inferior people that should be eradicated.

racism , at least the kind one actually consciously defends has no substantiation. Humans are all pretty much the same. Culture does have generalizations that one could make that would be hard to refute. Every decision you make is a generalization. You account for the most probable situation. When those expectations are not rational , then that is when things get ugly.

You could test it out. Go to a poor black community at 3 am near the end of the month. Do the same in a white community where everyone is mormon. You stand a higher chance of not returning with your shoes in situation A. But this is not based on race but culture and the impact of racism on a culture that makes one culture poor, violent and prone to want to steal a cracker's shoes.
