Well, 10^{1.5*(9.0-7.6)} ~= 125.89 (see here for formula). So the predicted 9.0 quake would be about 126 times as powerful as what actually happened.

7.6 - 3.8 megatons - 16 PJ

vs

9.0 - 480 megatons - 2.0 EJ

I also would say nowhere near just looking at the numbers.
