Not the same style of trying to cover everything since the start of all things electronic. Just love the detailed history it gives on stuff that happened during a time I was too young to experience but lead to the music I enjoy today.

Thanks for this - I really enjoyed it.

Great documentary! But hated how it was so bias to how UK changed the rave scene! Missed out on a bunch.

The UK invented rave, so I'd like to think it's pretty self-explanatory that they 'changed it' as you say. Take any of the raves here in North America in the late 1990s that had 20,000-30,0000 people at them and multiply that by about 6. Although the documentary alluded to it and stood outside of the grounds on which it was held, they never mentioned the rave that changed all raves (and helped bring in the Criminal Justice Act) by name - Castlemorton. The police were literally helpless in shutting it down because it was so massive and any attempt at doing so was deemed to be even a bigger security risk.

Castlemorton was like the Woodstock of the UK rave scene.

Watched OP's video last night. Very enjoyable.

Its oversimplification of some aspects was also its virtue. Very easy to watch and listen to.

Like OP said, love or hate Guetta, he's definitely giving off the impression that he just loves dance music!

There is a big lash back at this doc.

British DJs are saying it missed a lot of things.

As well as Sasha tweeting:

And really an English club doc doesn't mention Hacienda? WHAT?

What? Maybe I am thinking of another doc, but I thought Hacienda was in there. I can picture the video footage in my head.

Tons of references to the Hacienda, but nothing ON the Hacienda specifically.

pretty much agree with a lot greg wilson says about this doc.

ps. Love Saves the Day: A History of American Dance Music Culture, 1970-1979 (the book greg mentiones in his blog is actually pretty amazing. was able to grab a copy for around 25 bucks sometime ago.)
