Yes, I was thinking about that but didn't post anything about it.

Can anyone find any reviews of the album from back then that mentions it's genres? I did some googling the other day but only found one that didn't mention the genre.

Setting aside the already-stated point that information on Discogs can be changed by users so the categorisation could easily have changed down the years, how about this? All the singles from the album are categorised on Discogs as "House, Electro" or just "Electro":

http://www.discogs.com/Mylo-Drop-Th...re/master/53075
http://www.discogs.com/Mylo-Valley-...ls/master/58118
http://www.discogs.com/Mylo-Ottos-J.../release/364507
http://www.discogs.com/Mylo-In-My-Arms/master/56097

Also, if you read some of the user reviews on Discogs, there are several references to tracks from the album or consequent singles as "electro". The official Amazon review of the album uses the word "electro" to describe it.

Anyway, this is all hair-splitting. The OP asked if there is a definitive, unambiguous pioneer of electro house, and my point is that the origins of "electro house" are very murky and no single track or artist can be said to have invented the genre out of nowhere. It emerged from the electroclash scene, several key tracks helped develop its popularity and its meaning has varied somewhat down the years, as all trendy buzz-words do when people want to latch on.

it is hard because as system j , these terms didn't mean the same thing.

here is an example I can give that i know for sure as it had to do with me.

At the time i wrote this in 2000, i was trying to make house with an electro feel. But there wasn't enough or I wasn't aware of it that i would of called it electro house. I honestly felt it was just house attempted by someone that listened to trance.

Some of the tracks i think i referenced or were an influence was pumpin by novy and eniac.

This is pretty much electro house in terms of production but at the time, it wasn't as in 1999 it wasn't a term.

There are so many tracks that pre date 1999 that would fall under electro house. Even daft punks homework which was mainstream has tracks that are electro house.

Even George Clinton has pretty much a sound that would be called electro house today
