Luckily we have an establishment clause in America, and as long as there are establishment clause groups (Or just Constitutional advocacy groups in general) willing to take the religious to task for interfering in government, that sort of defense is null. That "Tea Partyist" must have forgotten Sweden, Norway, and many other European and Eastern countries that do fine or better without one or more of those traits.

Not murder as it requires the woman to carry to the baby to term. If she decides not to continue with said pregnancy, then there would not be a birth and therefore no life, so nothing is "killed" that would be able to survive by itself. It's simply a matter of choice up to a point (3rd tri), then you are technically killing something that could live outside of the womb and this is where it becomes a moral question.

This topic should not even come up; it was laid(sic) to rest by the 1970's in most civilized countries.

Having said that, I know one girl who has had 9 abortions, just because she is too fucking dumb to have a little forethought. How she doesn't have the HIV or how she still gets pregnant, I don't know, but I get why some deeply conservative people have a rage against this sort of behaviour.

The funniest thing though, is that the dad of a friend of mine is seriously conservative, republican, middle america, works for an oil company etc - he is fucking militant about abortion.

Thanksgiving table subject comes up and I'm doing the polite discussion thing "seeing his point of view", little known to him, his daughter sitting at the same table has had 3 abortions and his wife 1.

If it wasn't for abortion, he'd have 3 grankids by three different fathers (two mixed race) and a mixed race step son.

I'm sure he'd of loved that

Which is kind of funny, since the person I was talking about, said all those things to a Swedish journalist. I'm currently reading said journalist's book called 'Den Amerikanska Högern' (The American Right Wing), where all of those statements are documented. Sadly, there's no English translation, AFAIK, it's a good read.
