None of them have died though (hoping they don't succumb to wounds, of course). And knives are tools, we use them to prepare potatoes. Guns are instruments with a single purpose: to irrevocably wish something's life away with the efficiency of a twitch. At their most benign, a tool for grossly unwarranted intimidation. There are exceptions, of course, but even at its core, are the rights of the many worth the lives of the innocent? I'm just not feeling like a liberated citizen when I cannot feel safe to send my children to elementary school. |
I'm not defending the legality of guns. I agree that they need to be restricted in some way, shape, or form but they aren't single use as many people use them for target shooting although admittedly those firearms are of a far lower caliber. I can't fathom why anyone feels the need to carry concealed handguns on their person, or own .50 rifles for self-defense.
As for the Chinese school stabbing, I don't believe any of them have died as of right now, but if the guy was truly hell-bent on doing them in, he would have. It's hard to screw up killing someone with a knife.
