zzzzzzzz lots of boring cheese and commercial pop dance tracks trance my ass. That Matt Darey track sounds so watered down the rest are pretty much the same cheesy pop dance tracks.

This is bonkers. You are one of the best producers around in my opinion. Everything I look for in driving progressive trance music. And yet this is the music that inspires you?

Please explain!

Also, surely if you loved music like this you would make it too?

Here's something for all people that don't want or can't pay for music:
A track that definately spices up every Trance set...

Main Sequence Star - Archaea

https://soundcloud.com/psytrancecan...ce-star-archaea

or how about a mix between Progpsy and uplifting Trance:

Hypnoxock - Reflex

Thanks! I prefer music with vocals and I think these tracks are well written and produced without being cliched. Been listening to "Progressive" for over a decade now and i feel the genre has little new to offer. Though i think the more commercial side of Dance music these days are getting better and better. Though as a producer i do feel i have something new to offer in the progressive side of things.

Sorry I respect you man but What are you on about? I totally don't agree with your views on commercial side of things sounding better than what it once did. 99.99% of the commercial tracks released these days sound like pieces of crap.I am shocked you like these sort of tracks because they sound like soulless tripe to me.

This track by Push sounds anything better than anything you have your list they are just watered down stuff and I grew up with cheese and I still listen to the old stuff. These commercial tracks sound far better than most of the cheese you have up there http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Ad0qVhfdfA . Hell the remix by Ferry Corsten of Catch by Kosheen sounds better.

Next you'll probably be saying Feels so Good by Armin is trance

Catch and Troy are good tracks in which i have enjoyed in the past, and i think Feels So Good is a decent dance track to be honest.
Lets just call it vocal trance, if you have any recommendations for vocal trance that isnt considered cheesy or commercial id be happy to check them out. But the main point is that i really have a soft spot for vocal trance, and ive found a lot of good tracks that i really like this year.

This is probabably one of my all time favorite vocal trance tracks:

So if i want Trance AND vocals what am i suppose to listen to?

Look I don't consider those tracks you like to be vocal trance. The tracks I pointed out are what I would call vocal trance. Even Airwave's remixes of Summer Calling is what I consider to be vocal trance. A lot of people mistake Beautiful things as vocal trance I don't consider this particular to be trance/vocal trance its good a vocal track but its not trance/vocal trance. The mason track has nothing to do with vocal trance. For me to call it vocal trance the track needs a strong intense melody, and atmospheric and nothing dull and uninspiring sounds and the vocals don't have to sound so girly or annoying. Not to mention it needs to be hypnotic (of course you can have various degrees of this)

Most of the stuff you've listed I consider to be danceable pop music. This is the problem some people think just because it has a beat and some vocals it should be tagged under vocal trance which is ridiculous. Dark/sad vocals (vocalist who can sing too) work the best for trance the happy ones sound very euro.

Im not going to get into a genre definition discussion, its just too diffused and each and one has their own views. I honestly dont see how that Mason track is not vocal trance. The tracks i listed are either officially labeled as Progressive House, Electro House or Trance. They might be more on the commercial side of things, but certainly below the threshold of mainstream.
I will post my top 10 list this year regardless of Genre instead

01. Matt Darey and Aeron Aether feat. Cath Porter - Blossom & Decay
02. Korn - Narcisstic Cannibal
03. Matt Darey and Katie Lois Smith - Red Is Rising (Aeron Aether Remix)
04. Emma Hewitt - Miss You Paradise (Venom One Remix)
05. Kill The Noise feat Ultraviolent Sound - Dying (Brown and Gammer Remix)
06. Emma Hewitt - Rewind (Katfyr Remix)
07. Kill The Noise - Kill The Noise (Part One)
08. Infected Mushroom - Nevermind
09. Klaypex and Katfyr - Let It Go
10. Flux Pavillion - Got 2 Know

None of these tracks are Trance, i will withdrawn my comment about the progressive scene has little new to offer as i realise that ive lost interest in Progressive Trance. Does music really have to be so dark and underground to be respected? Productionwise these tracks are really of top notch quality.

If i were to name any Progressive Trance tracks this year it has to be Airwave with Cathedrals of Hope.
