Also, teach middle school lol

PS - My friend was a high school teacher, and has the same problem almost caught a few times as well.

I am not picky. I will see Markus and Ferry regardless of their direction. I just wish they would play the Kennedy or Ritz instead of the dirty amp which I won't be seen at. This is the only place I go for event listings. Seems like i check daily to see if there is anything worth while that I have the opportunity to attend. Lots of crap posted but if it's something most on here recommend, hopefully I can get to it.

Middle school is only for the truly insane. Have you ever been in a room with 25 13 year olds? No thanks!

Have to agree with you on the Amp that place is a total shit hole. I'm sure reason being is the Amp has a higher crowd capacity so payoff is very high turn out then other Venues. Something along those lines I guess

As a promoter (and long time fan) it isn't always the fans fault for not supporting, but usually it is. I couldn't afford to fly around every weekend for every event that I liked and I imagine it's the same way for a lot of people. It's an expensive hobby, and much akin to why fans started downloading most of their music instead of buying it. We rely on our local promoters to bring big talent to us, so we can afford to support more often.

I've been dealing with South Florida clubs and venues for the past four months trying to finalize the details for my Ferry Tayle event (and it was eventually a much larger event, but overhead changed the game). In that time 4 other promoters from different states booked him in a month or less. The community down here may be demanding certain acts, REAL trance DJs, but the numbers show otherwise.

These venues are wanting $5,000 to $10,000 bar guarantees for Fridays and Saturdays, because they know these artists won't sell, and it's not profitable for the promoters to promise that. It's expensive to fly in international DJs and then on top of that we have to pay the bar at the end of the night (let's be serious trance fans don't buy alcohol) so the overhead for the event sky rockets.

Aurora Events is an offspring from the Esscala mentality. I know them all personally, I'm good friends with the owners of EDM NYC and USTM, as well as being a member of innumerable amounts of trance communities as a whole. This past WMC I spoke with them all, we laid out a plan, and we're attacking it. The sad truth is it took months to even get a venue to give us a chance. And trust me, the venues are VERY hesitant. Why bring in a Trance DJ who's only going to attract 200 people and sell $1000 in drinks when we could bring in a house DJ who's going to bring 2000 people, sell $20,000 in drinks, and do it consistently?

I made a promise to myself and to the fans when I launched this endeavor. As long as the fans support it, I'll continue. I need you guys to help me make this successful. Miami is one of the toughest crowds to break but we CAN do it. I already have a venue who WANTS us to succeed, he WANTS a change of music and vibe, he WANTS our more awesome and mature crowd, but he also has to stay profitable. And in this business, all the risk is on the promoter.

I'm not trying to sell you Markus or Armin. They don't need my help. There are ton of talented, real trance djs who do though. And those are the guys I want to bring you.

Man that's pathetic...200 people and only a grand at the bar? I knew it. Trance fans SUCK when it comes to spending money at the bar. That's 5 dollars per person or ONE BEER. What a joke.

I've never figured out how to go out and not have at least a few (several) drinks. How the hell do you just "hang out" without a few adult beverages... at a NIGHTCLUB with loud music and friends. Just strange...

$5 bottles of water don't make the bar when a lot are refilling in the bathroom.

I wouldn't necessarily call tap water disgusting, but it's definitely not helping your promoter pay the bar tab.

From a club bathroom?? Lol. At least humor the bartender enough to give you ice water instead of charging you for a bottle.

But yeah, I see your point. Trance crowds seem to be much different than the other genres.

I used to fill up with tap water at Pacha all the time because I hated giving them money. I do that at Marquee if I go, because charging $8 for a small bottle of water (and $20 for drinks) is obscene. I don't make that much money, and all my spare money goes towards shows. I would be living much more comfortably if I didn't have an inherent need to go to shows and festivals every week.

But if I'm at a local show or a show with a promoter that I love and respect, I open up my wallet and support them.
