@palm - what's the gripe with OSX. I have one mac, and 3 x PC's (one XP, one W7 and one w8).
Windows 8 feels like a windows 7 with a custom skin. I honestly can't tell any difference. And windows 7 is like XP with a built in indexing and search function.

its the mouse-behaviour, the fonts, the buttons are missplaced, maximize windows etc etc. many little irritating things. also i like to put together stuff myself and do small upgrades all the time. i just dont like it anymore, i did like it on a laptop though mostly because the trackpad is awesome on macbooks, better than windows for that. but as a working station it just didnt work for me. especially mouse behaviour, placement of buttons, menus etc etc.
