Fuck Snowden. I hope the CIA can arrest him and bring him back to the country to stand trial for what he's done. If they're unable to do that, other measures would not seem inappropriate.

Also, for the record, fuck Greenwald.

People don't want to know about how bad things are. They want to live in their cozy little bubble were they can trust the government without giving it a second thought.

People are going far to trick themselves in to believing that everything is OK. Most people behave like a little girl, assaulted by their boyfriend. Take it, again and again and again.

And then take it out on someone who are trying to help.

Unless he believed he could be followed. It does make sense, if you put yourself in his shoes...

Two main differences;

1: just one single document (prism) had more of a revelatory effect than all 5000 documents that Manning released (which were mainly embarrassing comments between diplomats, broken promises or back chat etc). Nothing was on the scale of the entire world is being spied on by America and it's been going on for years and all the phone companies were secretly duplicit.

Which makes Snowden's revelations all the more important, no?

2: Manning was an active service member of the military and the reason he did it was serious mental health problems, not really because he felt there was some huge injustice caused by the wires. He also didn't really know all the details in the documents he was releasing. He got caught because he released documents that had a clear paper trail, had made little to no effort to cover his tracks (other than release anonymously through WK) and in fact, some say his actions demonstrated that he wanted to be caught as you just wouldn't so dumb to do the things he did in the process of releasing the info.

Mental problems notwithstanding, he was the one who leaked the video showing the death of two Reuters reporters, where did he say he didn't think there was any big injustice in what he saw?

We remember him because he was somewhat a tragic tale and Wikileaks, especially Julian Assange himself, used the situation as a platform to get global recognition. Bear in mind, before that, WK was a small organization and now they are known the world over.

He already had it

And it might well be a way of getting him extradited (and barely a good life for comparison). Have you got any hard proof that Assange really raped anyone? I understand you disagree with their actions, but it seems you're taking for granted too much to discredit the people involved, despite the lack of evidence. Also, you're disqualifying the messengers, not the message, which is what ultimately matters the most.

Why? I, for one, am glad he published all this, and I believe Brazil should consider giving Snowden his asylum after we found out the NSA has been spying on us too.

We're hardly a haven for terrorists, or hostile in any way.

i think you need to step back and think wether his information was worthwhile and something the public needed to know and was it worth compromising what ever security issues for which he is being chased down for.

Most of the things said about him don't really change the fact that what he leaked is problematic and something the public should probably know. His mental health, imagination and ulterior motives don't really change that aspect.

and you would be labelled a conspiracy theorist and denied trim at parties. I don't see the link between him being an idiot and the information provided. The sort of character assassination doesn't really change the validity of the information provided. As someone said earlier , it is unfortunate the attention is on him and not the information.

I think people just don't care about privacy, they seem to want get even more personal info out. The same information was really publicly around '06 or something so why is it a problem now?

how was i personal or off topic. You said something that was rather presumptuous and by mots accounts rather stupid. Following your line of logic, why have any transparency if we should just naturally assume that the government is out to get you. I would say tangible data that this is actually happening somewhat important for those that are not part of the tin hat massive. The more information we have, the better. I don't see the down side unless you are the one on the run or related to him and did a little tax dodging and you will now be under the FBI's microscope and they probably already have video of you masturbating and crying in no particular order.
