Yes spousal/child abuse is a huge problem in todays society. I'm glad you did what you did, because that shit can not be tolerated. However I think the larger problem is that many people learn these actions because it happened to them as children, or there drunk as fuck. Neither of these are excuses but I think that people should be educated about it. Most of its more behind closed doors though. I'm sure just about everyone on these boards nows someone whos been abused and doesnt even know it. Sad, but true.

Assuming they don't have a weapon, you ought to be able to neutralize them while inflicting only minimal pain. If they have a weapon and they are attacking you, well, all's fair in warfare.
