This would have been the night for you because didn't play much tribal at all. And it wasn't even clumped together, just lightly sprinkled over the whole night

When you talk to "normal" clubbers about afterhours/extended sets, they don’t get it and understandably so.

They are conditioned for 5 minute tracks with no highs or lows. A 3 hour attention span is all they have. No patience to see a DJ take them on a journey like how Chus and Ceballos did.

There’s something about being in a room with like minded individuals that enjoy the music at a level where they would spend hours in a room, hearing the best possible sound and vibe.

Most clubs decide the importance of the clientele by the amount of money they spend, the clothes they wear or how they look. At a club like Stereo, none of that matters. Everyone is equal. And that’s the way it should be.

Thanks for the A class treatment Stereo and the world class music Chus and Ceballos. What a way to start the year!

longest?

Morales from 2am to 7pm
Danny Tenaglia from 2am to 3pm

Shortest?
I think it was for Morales, 2 hours or less cause the fire marshals raided Stereo and kicked everyone out of the club. Lots of people caressing their dashboards outside afterwards ;-)

Ah cool. To be fair, I left for a bit of Morales' marathon and came back. The shock of being in there and coming out after 26 hours straight would be like woah.

By the way don't forget these guys played in NYC the night before, so it wasn't a 14 hour set after a week's vacation.
There are DJs out there that have done longer sets (DT, JP, Junior Vasquez, etc) but those 24 hr sets were done with the help of pre-mixed CDs according to people that worked in the clubs. There was a time DT even requested curtains around his DJ booth so he could close them ;-)

JP did 48 hours NYE @ Exit NYC 2003. 10,000 people through the doors over the 2 days. (pretty sure this was the party where he put on "silence" and the crowd parted as Sarah Mclaughlin sang it live to the crowd)

i never heard of sarah mclaughlin showing up to a gig and singing in nyc are you are about that?.i know for nye 2000 sound factory wanted to hire whitney houston to perform but she wanted crazy crazy money

speaking of marathon sets, even tho its not stereo but loco dice spun 18 hours yesterday at space miami
over the past year big quality dj's have been spinning longer, i think we are getting back to the days when an "extended set" actually means something, not 4 or 5 hours like they post on some fliers
