for real?
I know it is, yet still go duh when i hear that.

Now actually if you think about it, that person appears to have been there other nights.
what the heck did he THINK he heard at those, electro crap?

******
ben140's post about TBA Bk above is actually their Fri. early line-up, not Thursdays.
That would be the place I'd pregame prior to Ben (which surely was what you meant.)

fwiw, heres the Thursday stuff there:

FEBRUARY 27th THURSDAY

6pm-10pm

NO COVER

Join us for the launch of a new happy hour residency at our favorite intimate club! Open-format experimental sets by the most intriguing artists from New York and beyond.

For our launch, we are featuring two legendary figures: One is the founder of the seminal Dub War, arguably the most influential deep bass-focused parties in the Americas. He is joined in a 3-hour back-to-back session by the Cape Town transplant Funafuji -- a leading figure in the hybrid South African house & bass music genres.

Dave Q [Dub War | TwisUp]
b2b Funafuji [Cape Town, SA]
Secret Guest - opening dub set

Happy hour specials 6-9pm:
$3 Tecate & Corona | $4 mixed & wines | $5 ritas | $7 dark & stormy

***
FEBRUARY 27th THURSDAY

10pm-4am

NO COVER

Nova27 Records & Static Bookings Present:

Dark Kiss Remix Release Party featuring

Manny Ward
Nova27 / Many Words Music

DJ Amoroso
Nova27 / Maya Records

John Spinosa
Nova27 / Black Hole Recordings

Live performance by Winter Darling

That overwhelming yet insatiable sense of yearning one gets as they long for a new lover. The desire to be in their arms, the want for their touch, the urge to smell and taste them over and over. The need to be fulfilled, even if you know it will be at the cost of self sacrifice. That thirst a person feels so strongly that they think it nothing to surrender themselves. This passion of a vampire-esque love that runs deep into your soul is the inspiration behind the song “Dark Kiss”.

Join Nova27 Records & Static Bookings at TBA in Williamsburg, Brooklyn on Thursday Feb 27th as they celebrate the release of the Dark Kiss remixes, including one by 2x Grammy winning TheisMix. Winter Darling will also be in the house that night to sing the track live.

Yep, this is going to be excellent tonight.

I'm really curious about the crowd / tickets not really moving it seems. Wondering how packed it's going to get tonight, but will certainly be there from 10pm on!

Really, walked away shaking your head?

It's just music and to be honest, most people in the scene aren't as into it as most of the people on this forum. Doesn't mean they're idiots or lame or whatever...

Love the FL and NYC forums but sometimes the level of pretentiousness is a bit over the top...

I was referring to what SebG said. Look I don't want to start a flame war, I actually really like this forum. I'm from Florida, not NYC, but it's a good read in here nonetheless.

I just think, instead of having the attitude where you're put off by people who may not be as knowledgeable as as you in the realm of techno, maybe it's better to say "hey check out Interface, if you like dark, banging techno, it could be your thing."

I see both sides when I go out: the people who really are ignorant as to the music (but in most cases they ARE having a good time, and isn't that what's most important -- and we're not talking about Avicii shows here either), and then the people who use their vast knowledge and experience in the scene as a shield to seem cool. I don't want to say anyone is actually like that in this thread but it can come off that way.

Let's just have a good time and not worry about someone's knowledge (or lack thereof) of the music. We all had to start some place. In 2009 I didn't know what the fuck an Armin Van Buuren was let alone shit like Interface.

You're reading into it too much, IMO.

im with n54 here... I'm a techno noob and 5-6 months ago I wouldn't know who klock is... most of us may sound pretentious but it's not the aim.. it's all in good fun... well, at least most of the comments

I see your point.

What i am trying to say is, a lot of people won't look past than whats dished out in front of them. They won't dig deeper.

Last night was brilliant. Reverse layout again like the klockworks label night, I really like the switch. Ben took 30 minutes or so to get started- I really liked his dark atmospheric, gritty intro tracks. The way he mixes through songs is truly something else. He was using 3cdjs and 2 vinyl decks. The flow he gets into is no joke.

Great seeing vicious, aystar, and finally got to meet xpander.

yeah dude it was nice to meet you at last. you def got some dance moves

i had a great time while i was still there, haha. i successfully "ghosted" last night.

the reverse setup def gave the night a different vibe but i thought the sound was a bit odd. it might be because im just not used to it but no sound was really coming from those speakers right next to ben klock.
