Re: Mixing bass!

I am not claiming to be the guru of everything trance but its more about blending the two elements together I.E. start by boosting the fundamental frequency of the kick

(listen for the stab of the kick not the boom/rumble)

with EQ (lets say for example 65hz). Start with a 2-3 db boost just to warm that kick up. Now that is identified you can EQ the bass and make a not too drastic cut at the same frequency as the fundamental of the kick (65hz) this will give the kick some breathing room and is a great place to start tidying your mix up in the low end. how much to cut will change with the track element building but its just a case of using your ears.

Some simple high passing is essential too but don't go crazy and your will lose the feel and vitals of the track you are trying to create.
I have done a tutorial on this on my YT channel here:

Ill drop my noob question here. But how do you approach mixing bass and kick?

Do the kick stand for the lowest low (40-90 Hz) and the bass above that (90-200 Hz)?

If so, is it always or only if they both 'hit' at the same time?

Thank you!
