They absolutely can, and will, do this in Australia. It's not like what you seem to think a "nursing roll" is at all. Here, if the pharmacist isn't sure about your prescription/details/etc., you'll get the full 20 questions routine, and if they're not happy with how you answered, then they'll request to get in touch with your doctor to clarify things before you get your shit. And they are very well trained to do this, it's a long and intense degree, and even after that it's quite a long time before they can start personally filling prescriptions themselves - It has to be done by the supervising pharmacist, which would mean a masters degree (and a considerable amount of practical experience).
