This isn't up on youtube and probably because I've only heard like one or two other dj's play it. Granted this was just a track from a remix-album that didn't do well but it is a great track and it was severely underrated.

DJ Stigma used to play this a lot in 2000-2002. It probably isn't all that famous due to being released on a tiny UK label from Warwickshire and not having a big mega breakdown. The flip is pretty nice, too, even if the offbeat bassline is a bit OTT:

George Winkworth actually released another tune under the Slipstream alias a few years ago:

It sounds pretty turn of Y2K-ish and fairly pleasant compared to the overcompressed, midrangey hell epic trance is in these days, but it's also far too similar to an average M.I.K.E production from that era.

Very similar indeed, hard to believe it's actually not a M.I.K.E./Push production upon listening. Not too bad, but nothing special or unique, either, unfortunately.

I only know Krakatao from the Electric Daisy Carnival CD, but it's not surprising, as I haven't listened to many sets from 2000-2001, where it may have been played more often. Still, compared to other releases on that label and the year it was released in, it seems to remain relatively obscure to this day.

World Clique - Don't Do It (Original Mix) (2000)

It's very... well, trancy. I like it!

Yes it really sucks you in, very minimal/subtle progression makes for good trancey stuff.

So many good tracks posted in here...thanks everyone!

Compared to other tracks he created, 'The Fifth Element' seems underrated.

This is basically 'Fire' minus the wicked main lead

And the Matrix version

You're right, "Fire" has a wicked lead, plus it's a more complete track overall. Still, "Fifth Element" puts emphasis on other, more atmospheric elements of the track making it a very listenable piece of music.

Didn't know the Matrix version, good one!

Tracks like this were one of the things I liked the most about trance around Y2K. The genre as a whole sounded moodier, darker and had a lot more attention to detail. There'd also be a lot of tracks like this around that you could really build up to the bigger breakdowns with:

You could even mix it with techno quite easily for even more variation. Now, this kind of stuff runs at around 120 BPM, and is more or less completely separated from trance, where DJs sound like an EDM gig. Le sigh.
