Like most other US city: Rap and commercial dance in most club

But.............

We have a pretty good underground House scene here. A lot of good House DJs swing by every once in while. Many local house DJs

Breaks........once in a while

D&B once in a while........

Trance.......hmm.......maybe 2 or 3 big name DJs come by a year

Here too.

Really great trance music is best heard when you're lying on the floor, with arms outstretched, crucified beneath monstrous speakers. Trance takes the thump of hardcore techno music and scatters it among swirls of melody and elliptical rhythms, facilitating a sense of detachment that allows the mind to wander. For instance, on Sasha's Global Underground: Ibiza the sounds rise and fall together, working cohesively, like on a perfect night in the blue room upstairs at the rave, bringing you back down to Earth only long enough to be bounced right back into the stratosphere. The music provides an appreciation of musical space--the distance between sounds and the silence before the boom--allowing the listener to seep into each song slowly, convincingly.

well, im in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia......and most people listen to pop, cheese & r&b..........

but if ur talking about watz most popular in clubs around here, most of the ones i go to have 2 rooms, the main room will spin mainly hard trance like hennes & cold, warp bros, scot project, cosmic gate, etc.....

the subclub or second room will generally spin dark progressive stuff.....like science dept., john creamer & stephane k, 16B, peace division, g-pal, etc.....

mainstream trance like pvd, ferry corsten, tiesto, push, etc. isnt played very much

alternative, really bad alternative, dominates the scene here, as well as cheesy r'n'b.
