Deej: Real "Techno" music is a specific genre and one you probably haven't heard before.
To explain it in simple terms you have "dance music" or "electronic music", broad terms which define the industry as a whole. Under this you have numerous categories, such as trance, house, Drum n Bass, Techno, etc. Each of these categories has sub categories, such as progressive house, hard trance, acid techno etc. And some people go even further and say that there are more sub-categories to these, but that's just a case of how pedantic you want to be.
If you want some real techno, try these tunes. You might like some of these, but it is unlikely as techno is an acquired 'taste' which you will eventually grow to know and love The tracks are monotonous on their own but if you listen to live mixes from techno DJs they use a lot more records than other DJs in the duration of a set, and often use 3 decks:
-Chris Liebing - CLR 01 (Gaetano Parisio mix). The actual title of this track is "Analogon" but all the MP3s are given the above name.
-Alexander K Katz - Seek and Destroy
-Adam Beyer & Henrik B - Signal 9
-Athos - Oh my God (you might like this one)
If you want some more recommendations, I think you will like these. Not all are 'cheesy', some are great:
*System F - Dance Valley 2001 theme
*Barthezz - On the Move
*Brooklyn Bounce - Club Bizarre (Scot Project mix)
*Eon - Pocket Damage
*Push - Universal Nation (<-- a classic in the trance world)
*Push - Tranzy State of Mind
*Paul van Dyk - For an Angel (<-- another classic. You've probably heard it b4)
*BT - Flaming June
*Das Licht - 3
*Das Licht - Take Off
*Cosmic Gate - The Truth (original mix) <--if you like their other tunes you'll love this. By far their best, just avoid the Ferry Corsten remix.
*Arome - Hands Up (Scot Project mix)
Ferry Corsten - Punk
That should keep you busy for a while

thx to all the help so far. I know I am going to get flamed for saying this... but I still 'tend' (I stress the word tend) to like what you people call 'chessy music'still. But as long as the music people suggest sound similar to the ones I've listed I should like it for the most part, not matter what type of electronic music it is. Keep it coming.....and thanks once again.
