My review:
Ok, got there around 10:15 and there's a huge line-up!!! A few of us managed to get in 2 minutes before 12 for the countdown, but that sucked since i wanted to be comfortably in and not in my coat at that time. The pyro was pretty cool, not anything extrodinary, but good enough. The place was packed, but it wasn't to bad in the 19+ area where there was room to dance and where i was for 90% of the night and met up with E2EK1EL_D3!!! First time at Viva and i thought the set up was cool... not as nice as the guv, but still had some good stuff like the screens everywhere, so you could see exactly who was spinning at the time.
Total Science of course were amazing, with Q-Project being the better of the 2... i like how he's creative with his mixing and just doesn't mix and that's it.... plus he played, Bad Company's - "Hornet" which i wanted to hear probably the most. Loved the set!
I went to the Tent just for a walk around during Unabomber and Conradi's set, which did not take long at all for me to get to, and was suprized on how nicely set up, sound, and heating was inside the tent... very good job as it was not cold or damp at all in there. Would've stayed in there longer, but i wanted to be with friends in the main room, and listen to more TOTAL SCIENCE!!!so i left.
One Thing that dissappointed me about the TS set, and we all know what and who it was by now... CAddy CAd is fucking horrible... please Destiny if you're ever gonna throw a party with DnB/Jungle and you can't find anyone else for an Emcee, then just don't get anyone. Caddy Cad ruined alot fo tracks as usual. I can't remember how many times i've been to parties and this guy just took the fun away. Other then that Total Science was great!!!
Next up Grooverobber spinning breaks. Now when it comes to breaks i like them either Trancy or very dark like dnB. Grooverobber played nothing but "Shake your ass" breaks. Those breaks aren't my thing, so i just socialized during that time. Ended up meeting Madame Zu, talked to her, and got a picture with her, which was nice... she's a great person to talked to, one thing she said was that she was suprized how packed the place was, and we all agree on that.
After Grooverobber, Madame Zu came on and played a wicked set that got me dancing for a bit. She was playing one of the best live UK Hardhouse set's with a touch of Nu Nrg that i've experienced this year. The crowd was loving it... got to hand it to her for making my night complete!!!!
After her set my friends and decided to take off to my house for another 12 hour afterparty.
The Vibe at Destiny was great, and was cool to see everyone united like that for a change. We need more parties like this!!!! But we need more Trance, that was the only dissappointment for me.
E2EK1EL_D3 your fucking hype man... it was great talking to you again and there's more wicked shit comming up too, so i'll see you again!
The ratings:
Music: Total Science - 8/10
Madame Zu - 9/10
Other set's were just like backround music for me, since i wasn't paying much attention to them.
Decor: 7/10
Sound: 10/10
.... The sound was perfect high's and low's were eq'd to their best!!! Maybe not the loudest sound system i've heard but definitely the cleanest and totally crisp.
Vibe: 9/10
.... you could pretty much talk to anyone.
I'd like to say thank you to Destiny for bringing back a great party... this was the best New Year's parties that i experienced in Toronto in almost 3 years!!!
